We are a collective of faculty (part- and full-time), librarians and staff at the University of San Francisco (USF) who have come together to support equality, liberation, human rights, and self-determination for Palestine.
We understand the struggle for Palestinian freedom to be aligned with other movements against colonialism and oppression. We view the movement for justice in Palestine as a crucial terrain for defending freedom of expression and political commitment within the academy; preserving free inquiry, engaged pedagogy, and open scholarship; and cultivating egalitarian campus governance in the face of attacks by off-campus groups allied with unconditional U.S. support for the Israeli state. We reject any form of hatred towards or discrimination against any religious, racial, or ethnic group and consider Palestinian liberation to be inseparable from the fight against racism in all its manifestations.
We support the work of the USF Students in the Palestinian Student Association and other USF student groups focused on justice for Palestine, and will defend the rights of all students to engage in critical conversations, debates, and non-violent political actions concerning Israel and Palestine. We organize and promote activities on campus that serve to educate the community about the history of Palestine/Israel, the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights, and visions of a just future and human rights for all.
