Qiaolin Chen

Chief Data Scientist at Tencent IEG Global.

Qiaoin Chen is the Chief Data Scientist at Tencent IEG Global, leading efforts related data science solutions throughout game product life cycle, including data driven game design and production, game AI, user acquisition, LTV prediction, in-game recommendation, user life cycle analysis, virtual economy, user profile system. She joined Tencent Games in 2018, prior to which she was a data scientist at SparkBeyond and a principal statistician at Novartis. She received her B.S. from Peking University and Ph.D. in Biostatistics from UCLA.

Mohammad Ghavamzadeh received a Ph.D. degree from UMass Amherst in 2005. He was a postdoctoral fellow at UAlberta from 2005 to 2008. He was a permanent researcher at INRIA from 2008 to 2013. He was the recipient of the “INRIA award for scientific excellence” in 2011, and obtained his Habilitation in 2014. Since 2013, he has been a senior researcher at Adobe and FAIR, and now a senior staff research scientist at Google. He has published over 100 refereed papers in major machine learning, AI, and control journals and conferences. He has co-chaired more than 10 workshops and tutorials at NeurIPS, ICML, and AAAI. His research has been mainly focused on the areas of reinforcement learning, bandit algorithms, and recommendation systems.

Talk: Understanding Customer Journey: from Data, Behavior to Purpose


Jingjing Li is an associate professor and associate director for Center for Busines Analytics at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia and an associate editor for MIS Quarterly. Her research interests relate to artificial intelligence and big data analytics, with applications in search engine, healthcare, marketing, platform and public policy. Her research has been published in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Management Information Systems. She is a winner of the INFORMS Design Science Award, WITS Best Paper Award, CIST Best Paper Award, WITS Best Prototype Award, and INFORMS Data Science Workshop Best Paper. Her research has been funded by NSF, Amazon, Google and Microsoft. Before joining the McIntire School, she was a Scientist at Microsoft, where she proposed and implemented several large-scale machine learning solutions for numerous Microsoft products such as Xbox One, Windows 8, Cortana, and Bing.


Quantitative Engineer, Meta


Slawek Smyl received M.Sc. degree in Physics from Jagiellonian University, Poland, and the M.Eng. degree in Information Technology from RMIT University, Australia. He is currently a Quantitative Engineer with Meta Technologies working in the area of time series forecasting. Mr. Smyl has ranked highly in forecasting competition: he won the Computational Intelligence in Forecasting International Time Series Competition 2016, got a third place in the Global Energy Forecasting Competition in 2017, and won the M4 Forecasting Competition in 2018.


Senior Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute

Totte Harinen is a Senior Causal Inference Expert in the Machine Assisted Cognition team at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). He works in the intersection of causal inference and machine learning to develop models and algorithms that are generalizable and interpretable. His passion is to help humans and computers understand causality.


Before coming to TRI, Totte worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Uber, developing internal and external tools for causal inference, including the popular Causal ML open source library. His Ph.D. in philosophy from King’s College London focuses on the problem of causal explanation in the sciences.

Ilya Katsov is a VP of Technology at Grid Dynamics, a global consulting company that specializes in emerging technology. Ilya works on innovative data science and AI solutions for large enterprises. Prior to joining Grid Dynamics, Ilya worked at Intel Research on wireless communication technologies. Ilya is the author of two books: Introduction to Algorithmic Marketing (2017) and The Theory and Practice of Enterprise AI (2022).
