If you want a comprehensive filtration upgrade for your Dodge Charger, Challenger, or Chrysler 300 that protects both the engine and back seat passengers from dust and odors, choose Uselection Cabin Engine Air; if you need a single replacement part specifically for heavy-duty Caterpillar machinery, choose Generic Cabin Air Filter. These two products serve entirely different worlds of automotive maintenance, and mixing them up would be a costly mistake. One is a dual-purpose kit designed for high-performance street vehicles, while the other is a specialized component for industrial equipment. You cannot swap these filters based on size alone because the mounting points, airflow requirements, and media density are engineered for specific machine architectures.
• Uselection Cabin Engine Air: Offers a complete 2-in-1 solution with activated carbon for odor reduction and engine protection, but requires precise fitment verification for 2011–2023 Dodge and Chrysler models.
• Generic Cabin Air Filter: Provides a direct replacement for specific Caterpillar industrial applications with a compact design, but lacks any multi-engine utility or odor-reducing carbon media.
• Best for: Choose Uselection for family sedans and muscle cars where air quality for back seat passengers matters; choose Generic strictly for maintaining heavy-duty construction equipment.
This product is built for the owner of a Dodge Charger, Challenger, or Chrysler 300 who wants to handle two critical maintenance tasks in a single trip to the auto parts store. This is not just about swapping a dirty square piece of paper; it is about managing the entire breathing system of your vehicle. The cabin portion features coconut-shell activated carbon, which is a specific material choice designed to adsorb gases and reduce odors. If you frequently drive with windows down in traffic or park near industrial zones, this carbon layer helps scrub the air before it enters the HVAC system.
The engineering here targets the 3.6L, 5.7L, 6.4L, and 6.2L engines found in these specific Mopar platforms between 2011 and 2023. The inclusion of multiple OEM reference numbers like CF11668 and CA11257 suggests a design intended to match the original equipment manufacturer's specifications exactly. This level of specificity is crucial because modern engines rely on precise airflow measurements for performance and fuel efficiency. A filter that doesn't fit perfectly can disrupt sensors or cause the engine to run rich, leading to wasted fuel and potential long-term damage.
However, this kit is not for everyone. It is explicitly excluded from 2024 and 2025 models, so if you own a newer vehicle, this package will not work regardless of how good the specs look. Furthermore, while the installation is described as taking about five minutes with basic tools, it does require access to two different filter locations—the engine bay and the passenger compartment cabin area. This makes it ideal for someone who wants to maximize their maintenance time by replacing both filters simultaneously. If you only have a small budget for a single filter change, you might find the cost of a kit higher than a single generic part, but the value lies in doing both jobs at once.

In stark contrast, the Generic Cabin Air Filter is a highly specialized component designed exclusively for the rugged environment of Caterpillar construction and mining equipment. This filter is a single unit measuring 9 inches by 9 inches with a thickness of 1.5 inches, weighing just under half a pound. Its physical dimensions and weight profile suggest a robust build intended to withstand the vibration and debris common in industrial settings.
The primary function here is straightforward: maintain air quality within the operator's cab of a Caterpillar machine. Unlike the automotive market, where consumers often demand features like carbon layers for smell control, industrial operators prioritize durability and flow rate above all else. This filter replaces the old one to ensure the cooling systems and cabin air remain clear of the fine particulate matter generated by dirt roads and excavation sites. The "Generic" branding indicates it is a compatible aftermarket part, meaning it is manufactured to meet the same dimensional and functional standards as the original Caterpillar part without necessarily bearing the brand name.
You should buy this only if you operate specific Caterpillar machinery that requires part number 245-7823 or 546-0006. It has no application for cars, trucks, or SUVs used on public roads. The lack of additional features, such as a second engine filter or activated carbon, is not a defect but a reflection of its singular purpose. In the world of heavy equipment, simplicity is often a virtue; there is less focus on reducing "cabin odors" and more focus on keeping the engine cool and the operator safe from dust inhalation. If your vehicle is not a Caterpillar loader, dozer, or excavator, this filter will not fit your car, no matter how many times you try to force it into the housing.
• Best for street vehicles (Dodge/Chrysler) → Uselection Cabin Engine Air, as it is the only option compatible with passenger car engine bays and cabin HVAC systems.
• Best for industrial machinery (Caterpillar) → Generic Cabin Air Filter, designed specifically for the heavy-duty applications listed in its part references.
• Best for odor control → Uselection Cabin Engine Air, due to its coconut-shell activated carbon media which actively reduces smells and pollen.
• Best for heavy-duty dust protection → Generic Cabin Air Filter, built for the abrasive environments typical of construction sites and mines.
• Best for convenience → Uselection Cabin Engine Air, offering a 2-in-1 kit that saves time by replacing both engine and cabin filters in one go.
• Best for single-part replacement → Generic Cabin Air Filter, a standalone unit that fits a single slot in heavy equipment cabs.
• Best for back seat passengers in a sedan → Uselection Cabin Engine Air, ensuring cleaner air circulates through the rear vents of a family vehicle.
• Best for operator safety in a loader → Generic Cabin Air Filter, providing essential filtration for the enclosed cab of industrial gear.
I recommend the Uselection Cabin Engine Air for any driver looking to upgrade their daily commute vehicle, especially if they care about the air quality inside the car for back seat passengers. The combination of an engine filter and a carbon-infused cabin filter offers a complete maintenance solution that addresses both performance and comfort. While the Generic Cabin Air Filter is a perfectly valid part for its intended audience, it simply does not apply to the average car owner. Unless you are standing on a construction site operating a Caterpillar machine, the Uselection kit is the only logical choice for protecting your vehicle's lungs and your family's health.
No, the Generic Cabin Air Filter is designed exclusively for Caterpillar machinery with part numbers 245-7823 or 546-0006 and will not physically fit or function correctly in a Dodge Charger or similar passenger vehicle.
It is recommended to replace both the cabin and engine filters every 12 months or every 12,000 miles to maintain steady airflow and ensure optimal cabin air quality over time.
The Generic Cabin Air Filter is a single unit measuring 9 x 9 x 1.5 inches, while the Uselection kit includes two separate components (cabin and engine) with total packaging dimensions of approximately 3 x 11 x 8 inches.
