What the heck is C++? Well, it's one of the computer programming languages that is used to create all the software we use, not to mention the ones that run the servers and the smart phones and pretty much all of the internet!
I mentor a class of gifted high school kids to help them prepare for a try out for the national team to compete in the International C++ Olympiads. When I say national, I am an, ehem, immigrant (or ex-pat from Turkey) here in the US of A. So, the National team is the Turkish one. The high school? My alma mater. Ankara Fen Lisesi. Here is the official site of our C++ classes in AFL. I have written about it a bit on another essay on having fun while learning computer programming. Click here to get started and run some code on your smart phone, right here. If you'd like more of an introduction to my take on philosophy and the Socratic good life before you dive into programming computers, then, click here to go to ozetle.com and then click on the Home icon on the upper left of that site.
But, remember, the students are Turkish-speaking kids. They have some English as a second language, but, I would like them to learn in their native language. So, I asked ChatGPT to help me get started. And I got a wonderful response! Click here and see how well it did.
And if you are interested in computers, programming and all the high tech they help create, check out my other page in English that will give you a good idea and many visual samples here. Oh, BTW, I also asked ChatGPT to give me a similar primer in super Scala and the colorful Kojo, and got this very helpful response.
