First, let's see some good guidelines on what to do and what not to do when we are interacting with chatbots on the internet or on our smartphones. This is from the introductory page of the famed ChatPGT by OpenAI:
Here is my quick attempt to list the best of the AI tools available today (February 20, 2025). Try them out for yourself. You can. Right now. It's easier than you may think.
Unless you have a business need, the free versions are more than good enough. A Google account is the easiest way to sign up for most of them. I'll talk about the exceptions below.

But, don't wait. What we've got is already great! You only need to remember that these tools will try to answer your questions by attempting to get an average opinion based on all the text they have compiled from the internet, newspapers and books and magazines, ... etc, into a very large language model (LLM is the acronym we use). When I say large, I mean tweaking literally trillions (millions times millions) of complicated parameters, many millions of dollars of investment to train them and to run them on expensive and power hungry server farms... They usually get you a decent opinion many a time, and even a seemingly very good, educated and right opinion (see for example an introduction to James Joyce's works fit for this author who is a reader of Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Hesse, O.E. Butler and Murakami by clicking here). But, if you'd like true knowledge and truth and wisdom, look elsewhere! :-) And, look especially within! All AI is known to hallucinate and attempt, unconsciously, to delude us. Just like our minds! 😇
