Ask students to read the story "The Wolf and Seven Young Goats"
Invite students to imagine that their mother has gone to store and asked them not to open the door. Ask students to discuss in small groups how would they test that someone knocking on the door is their mother. Once they come up with a few ideas, ask them to share with the class and note ideas on the board.
Introduce the term "Phishing" to students - a stranger is trying to trick them to reveal their username and password
Assuming each student has a Chromebook with a username and a password ask them to imagine the following scenarios one by one. For each scenario let the students discuss how they decide what to do and what may happen if they make a wrong decision and reveal their password to a stranger.
Someone has called them on the phone (e.g., their cell or home phone) and is asking for their password. The person says they work for the school and need to reset student's account.
Someone has emailed them and is asking them to click on a link and reset their password. Once the student clicks on the link they see a login page that looks exactly like the page they use to log into their school account.
Develop a "stay safe" plan with students:
Know the processes - all school password changes go through a teacher or a parent
Links can be fake - always access login pages by typing the URL or following links from your school site
Report any phishing attempts to a teacher - protect your peers
