The Black Science Coalition and Institute (B-SCI) is a nonprofit started in 2019. The organization aims to support aspiring and established black and underrepresented scientists. B-SCI seeks to conduct outreach in historically underrepresented communities; encourage the use of the scientific method and critical thinking; support underrepresented communities in their academic & scientific careers; and advance scientific research.
Our chapter aims to provide networking opportunities for black scientists at USC. To achieve this, we welcome all undergraduates, grad students, post-doctoral fellows, and professors. Chapter meetings serve as a forum to facilitate departmental discussions about being underrepresented in STEM; connect early-career black scientists with mentors; and plan outreach events in underrepresented communities.
