If you can't find driver project templates in Visual Studio, the WDK Visual Studio extension didn't install properly. To resolve this, run the WDK.vsix file from this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Vsix\VS2022\10.0.22621.2428\WDK.vsix.

As an alternative to downloading Visual Studio, the SDK, and the WDK, you can download the EWDK, which is a standalone, self-contained command-line environment for building drivers. It includes Visual Studio Build Tools, the SDK, and the WDK.

To build a driver, the build number of your SDK installation must match the build number of your WDK installation. The QFE values does not need to match unless your driver uses functionality that is only available in the headers included with a later QFE.

Driver updates for Windows, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:

I've done it on Windows 10. After plugging the USB blaster II then go to Install Drivers and navigate to the install directory and there is a drivers directory. I've done it twice on this machine and it's worked.

I tried one option for eliminating driver signing (command line) and tried the advanced restart settings suggestion above but that ended with a bricked computer and a call to IT to get a bitlocker key. I'm not trying it again.

Excellent instructions. First my new Eval kit didn't blink lights on first power up like it was supposed to, then the first run of Quartus Lite V20 required Admin permission (Run as Administrator), then the driver was not signed and this helped. What a mess trying to get a demo going on my latest Win 10 with their latest software but I now have blinky lights (on to real code).

Hello.Just purchased a new Dell tower and am bummed that my trusty imageCLASS D420 will not work with windows 11(at least i don`t think as i cannot find an 11 driver.Much obliged if anyone knows a way i can get them to communicate.BIG thanx!

Windows 10 drivers do not work for me on a Windows 11 HP Pavilion, installing as a local printer. Printer installs but does not print test page, nor a Word document. Document just stays in print queue.

Addition by JustDon: My problem has been solved. Here is what I think I did wrong. First, I had the printer plugged in to the PC and turned on when I ran setup.exe to install the drivers. Second, I tried to install it in LPT1, the parallel port when it needs a USB port. With the drivers improperly installed, there was no choice of a USB port. Properly installed, a port named USB001 was added to the port list. An aside: I read that some older printers can't run on the new high speed USB ports, but after I installed it in a USB 2.0 port, I moved it to a "super speed" usb port and it worked fine. So yes, the ImageClass D420 can be installed on a Windows 11 PC (mine is a HP Pavillion) using the Windows 10 drivers, as Hector said, but if you don't install them correctly, you may mistakenly conclude it won't work.

I have a few handheld radios that I need to update the frequencies and when I connect to the USB, it fails to connect. In device manager and Ports it says - "Please install corresponding PL2303 driver to support Windows 11 and further OS"

There is a working driver at _id=225&pcid=41, a bit down the page listed as "DCHU (for PC Vendors)". Getting it installed is a bit tricky, it seems. What I did is this:

First install the downloaded driver by unpacking the zip file and "pnputil /add-driver *.inf /subdirs /install" (the /install is probably not necessary) from the extracted "Win11_DCHU" directory. It will add the two driver packages to the driver store and tell you what oemXY.inf files it has assigned to them.

Then "pnputil /enum-drivers", and in the output look for Prolific drivers other than the ones from the previous step. I had only one other entry, a "ser2pl.inf" version "09/16/2021 3.8.40.0".

Disconnect the device, and "pnputil /delete-driver oemXY.inf" with the INF file you located in the previous step.

Connect the device again, and it should work, at least, it does for me. The problem is probably that the non-working driver is the newest (September 2021 vs. July for the ones from the download page) and so Windows prefers it over them.

Windows 11 update loaded Prolific PL2303 driver 3.8.40.0 and when I go to device manager it says "Please install corresponding PL2303 driver to support Windows 11 and further OS" This driver does not even attempt to communicate with my X10 CM11 hooked to my serial port. I had to go to Prolific website and load their current driver 3.6.81.357. (uninstall driver first) Serial to X10 device now working fine. Don't install Windows update for Prolific or it will change it back.

The CP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers are required for device operation as a Virtual COM Port to facilitate host communication with CP210x products. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver.

The CP210x Manufacturing DLL and Runtime DLL have been updated and must be used with v 6.0 and later of the CP210x Windows VCP Driver. Application Note Software downloads affected are AN144SW.zip, AN205SW.zip and AN223SW.zip. If you are using a 5.x driver and need support you can download Legacy OS Software.

"Iobit's Driver Booster is the best software available. I have been using all the Iobit Driver Boosters and other Iobit software for many years now. Driver Booster finds outdated drivers for my laptop's and along with using other Iobit software keeps my systems running smoothly. Driver Booster improved my gaming experience especially when it comes to demanding games that needs the latest updates. IObit products showed me the true capability of my pc."

"I was having all sorts of problems with my laptop, finally realizing that it was caused by the drivers. Despite going through all the channels my laptop brand provides I was still having problems. One click of Driver Booster and it found 17 (long) outdated drivers and fixed them just as quickly. My driver problems have disappeared and my laptop is running much better! I will use no other program for my driver needs."

Excellent option for budget/conscious peeps who need a useful driver update utility, beats most of the competition when it comes to extra features and services, such as a game booster, updating game components, and offline driver updates* A solid performer providing consistency and reliability!

I always keep it running while playing because of its "Game Boost" feature, which actually helps in performance, mainly so that your computer focuses its resources on the game you're playing. It's also useful for updating your drivers every few weeks, which you could do manually, but why would you?

I have been trying various methods of installing the ST-Link USB drivers on my Windows 11 Laptop, with absolutely no success. Here is the output I see when I try to run the installation batch file from the stsw-link009 download:

When I open the properties on the ST-Link device, it (obviously) says that the drivers are not installed. Needless to say, if I try to run a program form the Cube IDE, I get a "No-ST-Link Detected" message. Also, if I open a project on the mbed IDE while the nucleo is plugged in, the board does get recognized. The board is the F091RC, although I am not sure that's relevant to my issues. The pre-loaded blinky program does work as well.

Advise already given in this forum quite long ago (besides of modification and signing the INF) was to manually install the in-box winusb driver for ST-Link in the Device manager. This maybe works for early adopters of Win11 but there's time for ST to recognize Win11 .

Thanks for the input. I had seen that some forum posters had gotten it to work on 11, but I couldn't achieve the same success. I guess I'll just hold out until driver support is updated for Win11! Fingers crossed for it to be soon!

Virtual COM port (VCP) drivers cause the USB device to appear as an additional COM port available to the PC. Application software can access the USB device in the This page contains the VCP drivers currently available for FTDI devices. 0852c4b9a8
