I uninstalled, and deleted drivers, from within Device Manager. I did this for the Nvidia and the Intel HD Graphics drivers. I had no Display Adapters within Device Manager. Rebooted and everything started working. Going into Device Manager afterwards, both the Nvida and Intel display adapters were reinstalled.

Thanks Paul. I did as you suggested and the driver loaded just fine. HDMI input still doesn't work. Would there be a different driver responsible for HDMI input, or is there a configuration or setting required? I did work in Windows 10 before reinstalling Windows.

I installed the driver twice to be sure it took. First time, I selected the Nvidia geforce 730A and updated the driver. Second time, it showed the Nvidia geforce 730A drive AND a Nvidia geforce GT 730A driver. The GT in the title was new. It showed both drivers on the second install. When I go into device manager, it only shows the GT version of the driver.

Feels to me like it is more than just the graphics driver that needs to be updated to get the physical button to select the HDMI input. Could there be another driver (i.e. input devices) that also needs to be updated after the fresh install of Windows 10?

I've tried many fixes, including completely removing the display driver (any software, driver files, registry entries), reverting to using the old Windows 7 driver provided by Gateway's support site, and using the latest graphics driver for Windows 10 (including the version acquired by Windows Update).

When using the Windows key + P combination using any graphics driver (the base driver, the Win7 x64 driver, the Win10 driver updated through WinUpdate) shows no display output modes. An error message says cannot project to a second display, there may be an issue with your current graphics adapter or driver software.

HDMI worked for me with a I7-4771 HD 4600 Graphic and an EIZO 27 inch monitor. It was not perfect, because the monitor only accepted 30 Hz refreshing. I'm using the W10 Microsoft driver. No gaming, no films. I'm now using Displayport, because this is better supported by my monitor. If your TV has a DP attachment, maybe you should give it a try. HD TV screens should normally not have any problems with the horizontal resolution of 1080p. All in all, the simple Microsoft graphics driver gave me better results with windows 10 than the Intel "monster" editions.

I've had the computer on the stock Microsoft driver (standard VGA graphics adapter) and with the updated video driver from Windows Update (installed as Intel HD Graphics). Both do not even show the TV monitor showing up in Device Manager, Devices & Printers, nor Graphics/Display Properties.

this is what I learned during the HDMI/Displayport experimenting (I'm using an ASUS Z91-A 3.1 motherboard and the W10 MS "Basic Graphics Display Adapter" driver version is 10.0.10240.16384 dated 21.06.2006(!!)):

I suggest you to download the build 10130 ISO and burn it to a disk or USB stick. If you don't have many programs installed, a clean install might be a good choice. You may also check the manufacturer's website for updated versions of the drivers. Alternatively, you may also try to install the latest version of the driver in compatibility mode to check the status.

This will install the previous version of the driver. Sometimes, it's better to use the default driver in order to avoid compatibility issues. To use the default driver you'll need to uninstall the current one you're using and the default one will install itself. To uninstall the driver, do this:

If you're using a laptop, maybe it's better to download drivers fro m the laptop manufacturer instead. We also have to mention that in certain cases old drivers can work better, so if the latest drivers aren't working for you, follow the steps from previous solution to uninstall them and download older version of the drivers.

I was experiencing a similar case on my asus S551l once I did a fresh install of windows 10 my HDMI has not been working. After months of trial and error this is what I did that finally got it to work

Thanks a lot! The "SOFT" vs "HARD" reboot, solved my problem too! Basically, I tried reinstalling drivers and whatnot but to no avail. However, I just did "Shut Down" instead of "Restart" and now the HDMI port is working again. My monitor is being detected!

BRUH been updating drivers automatically, manually, every freaking thing I found for more than 4 hours and the HARD reboot was the only thing I probably had to do. You saved me hours and hours of frustration. Thank you.

It can be issue with Display drivers as they are responsible to Multiscreen (Extended display) output from Windows I will suggest you uninstall Display drivers from vendor's website and download latest drivers and install it on your Surface device.

Perhaps I failed to mention that I already tried this, this is in fact kinda what got it started.

I sometimes had very poor performance in Borderlands 3 a few months ago, 15-20 FPS instead of 60 so I installed a previous version of the driver at that moment with a restore of the factory defaults but this did not solve the issue so I reinstalled the latest version at the time.

Then I noticed the audio part was not installed anymore, so I tried to install the driver by hand via the Hardware manager but all methods failed. The automatic one, the one where you browse to the .inf file (that found no compatible hardware) and forcing an install by first selecting the type and then also pointing to the .inf file. The last way gave a warning about a possible incompatible driver because of a HW/SW mismatch but this also fails with an error that the system cannot find the specified file(s). Executing the MSI in the driver directory does not work either because this needs to be installed via the main Adrenaline installer.

Generally when I am updating a driver using Device Manager I just guide it to the folder where the driver is located. Device Manager will search the entire folder and choose the correct driver automatically or tell you there are no compatible drivers.

In you case, I would just direct Device Manager to search the C:\AMD\Win7-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-2020-Edition-20.7.2-July14\Packages\Drivers\Audio folder and see if it finds the correct driver to install.

Yeah, I guess I'll contact them but I though I this might have been a know issue.

Or that they dropped official support for Windows 7 but still provided you with working drivers because it's been half a year since Microsoft dropped support. But this does not seem to be the case as they are still available for download and is not mentioned AFAIK.

I also don't have another PC but the card is definitely not faulty, it's software related. I also don't have time to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on another disk because I'm pretty sure it will work.

And it worked a few months ago, it just stopped after some tinkering around with previous drivers for performance in a specific game. But as long as you used the provided AMD installers and tools this should not happen...

First of all the only suggestion they made was reinstalling a previous driver version (even after reading this thread) but I did not do that because this has already proven not to solve the issue. And they also wanted the DirectX diagnostic reports but since there were no problems there they were pretty worthless.

Now they are hiding behind the fact my BIOS is too old, July 2014, is a no no with a motherboard that is about the same age. And that Windows 7 is EOL and I need to upgrade to Windows 10.

For those who still have this issue, this may solve your problem. I have a Gigabyte H97-D3H, and encountered exactly the same issue where the hdmi audio option wasnt showing at all. I have to update the audio driver of the motherboard and install again the AMD driver(sequence is important) then it works fine now. I am using window 7 as well

Seems like when I upgraded my display driver, every time I wake up my laptop from sleep it does not recognize my TV properly - video is played properly on TV but no audio. Only restarting the laptop fixes the issue (re-inserting the cable doesn't help).

What is the exact system model? What is the current OS installed on the system? Did the issue start after any recent windows updates? What is the exact TV model? What is the HDMI cable version you are using? Have you tried another HDMI cable? Have you tried connecting to another monitor / television?

Reinstall the video driver from the vendor site. Check for the driver model in device manager -> display adapters. If you are unable to find the link, send me a picture of the display adapters in device manager and I shall provide links from vendor site.

Ok, system restore did the trick. Also continued to install all the Windows 10 updates, and the laptop still works properly, so it means the video driver update I mentioned is the root cause. It's a real shame no proper QA is put into these drivers - I will not upgrade any driver from your web site anymore.

Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

Windows Update checks for updated drivers and software for your devices and install them automatically. Keeping Windows Update on is a good way to make sure your devices continues to work properly and you get the best experience with them.

If your device came with a disc, it might contain software that installs a driver. Before you install a driver from a disc, check the info that comes with it to be sure it supports your current version of Windows. ff782bc1db
