Enlisted Accessions Recruiting (San Angelo, Texas)
Hi! I'm SSgt Alyson Silidker, an Air Force Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been in the Air Force 12 years, and have been stationed in Ramstein, Germany (Ramstein AFB); Cheyenne, WY (F.E. Warren AFB); Hampton, VA (Joint Base Langley-Eustis) and now San Angelo, TX (Goodfellow AFB). I'm originally from New Hope, Pennsylvania. I joined the Air Force soon after I graduated from high school. Before I joined, I was so excited to start my future but wasn't quite sure what that entailed. The reality of finding a good paying job, getting a good education and putting myself on a path to success was easier said than done. The Air Force provided me with the means to reach my goals and provide for my 6 year old son and I. The Air Force has given me so much and I am here hoping to do the same for others.
I started my Air Force career in 2012 in the Services (3F1X1) career field. This was when I discovered my love for helping others. From there, I went on to be come a First Term Airman Instructor. My job was to help guide young airmen and to make sure that they were put on the path to a successful Air Force career. One of the many things that I love about the Air Force is our saying "Never leave a wingman behind". This has proved true time and time again throughout my Air Force career. At every level we have a mentor, wingman, supervisor etc. that is right along side us pushing us to be the best version of ourselves. As a recruiter, I am hoping to provide that same support to those wanting to "Cross into the Blue". It is my goal to ensure that everyone that walks into my office is well informed and provided with the necessary tools to become a successful member of our Air Force. My job as a recruiter is to help YOU get through this process and to help you reach your goals! Aim High!
Text me directly to setup an appointment. I’m happy to answer any questions you have to help you get started!
Get prequalified. The prescreen checks for any red flags that are disqualifying to enter such as previous medical issues/law violations/drug use/etc. I'll set you up with a practice test you can take at home to give you an idea of how you'll score on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
If your pre-screen and practice test scores are good to go, I'll schedule your initial appointment to get your process started!
Below is the pre-qualificaition packet that you can complete and email back to me.
We’ll hold an initial appointment face to face. I will build your profile in our system and we will review/sign all necessary paperwork. I will provide you a background check packet that must be completed through https://afcep.af.mil/afcep/ in order to get to the next step in the process. We will go over all benefits, answer any questions, ensure you’re ready to join, and are open to current Air Force needs. Air Force needs currently include all mechanical aptitude jobs, electronics aptitude jobs, security forces, and special warfare positions. While we have 135+ career fields available, we cannot guarantee any career field nor create positions based on applicants wants. This step is what allows you to go to MEPS for processing.
Once your background check and profile are completed I will submit a medical prescreen request to to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) this will allow us to review your medical records for any concerns. This can take up to two weeks. Once this is approved we will schedule you for your ASVAB and physical. MEPS processing is typically a two day process. We'll complete your MEPS brief in person prior to going to ensure you are prepared to go to MEPS.
The physical is not a PT test. The physical will be checking qualifying factors such as vision, hearing, blood tests, drug tests, etc. MEPS will be taking precautions and will be screening everyone for COVIDvid-19 traits. Day One, you will go to MEPS to complete the ASVAB and then go to the hotel, free of charge, and do your physical the next day on day two. Once the testing and physical is complete, you will know if you are qualified to join the Air Force. If qualified, you will be informed on what jobs you are qualified to do based on academic and physical results. You will complete the Oath of Enlistment thus Swearing your commitment to the Air Force, and be a new member in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP)
Congratulations on making it to this step! DEP is everyone who is qualified and waiting to book a job or has booked a job and is waiting for their ship date. We will complete your DEP briefing and create a list of jobs that you qualify for in the Air Force. You will never be forced into anything that you are not qualified for or requesting. Once a month, our operations center will receive 100+ contracts. At this point they will review every DEP member in Central Texas, parts of Arkansas, and Louisiana that does not have a job and will align contracts based on applicant's request and Air force needs. Air Force needs currently include all mechanical jobs, electronics jobs, security forces, and special warfare positions. Once you book a job you’ll receive a date to leave for basic training typically within the next 1-3 months.
Getting ready for Basic Military Traning (BMT). You have your date and your job for BMT, this step is just ensuring you are staying qualified to be eligible to enlist into the Air Force. The day before your enlistment date, you will stay in the hotel we provide for you, and then do a brief physical with MEPS the morning before you leave for BMT.
Once you graduate BMT, you'll be headed to Technical training to learn your job in the Air Force. Each tech school is different, and they vary from 5 weeks to 54 weeks. Some tech schools have different phases, so you may change your tech school location before you reach your First Duty Assignment
You've arrived at your First Duty Station! Congratulations on becoming an Airman in the World's Greatest Air Force!
