In 2003 Kevin Groff needed to automate his reports and decided to try his hand at programming. The result has morphed over the years into the Crystal Corral viewer and the Crystal Delivery scheduler (reviewed with the Desktop Schedulers). The viewer has since been released as freeware, and you can donate to help cover the costs of hosting the files. Kevin has handed this project off to others who maintain the site.

CR Dispatch takes a different approach to viewing your reports, since it has a minimal user interface that only appears the first time you run a report. After that it provides a secure way to run a specific RPT with one click. The first time you run the viewer it asks you to select an RPT file. It then creates a config file that stores the report name and (optionally) the credentials used. The next time you run the application it silently runs that same report with the same credentials. This means that you need an instance of the application and config file for each report you want to run. Usually these three files are stored together in one folder, with separate folders for each RPT file.

ViewerFX covers all the basics and adds support for dynamic/cascading parameters in v11. It can deliver reports to both FTP and Email. It also allows the user to change the selection formula at runtime from within the viewer.
ViewerFX maintains a database of historical instances so you can go back and look at the reports that were previously run. There are several screen shots of the application on their website which give you an idea of how this works.
Using the demo version of InstallShield 2020 Express, downloaded last month. I am looking to create a very simple installation, zero bells and whistles, for a Visual Studio 2019 Winform app using InstallShield as a project within Visual Studio. Only slightly unusual item is that the app requires both Microsoft Report Viewer and Crystal Reports for viewing a bunch of legacy reports. And this is where things go wrong:
In the 'Redistributables' section, selecting the Microsoft report viewer or Crystal Reports, I immediately get 'The download failed; make sure you are running as Administrator, and that your machine is connected to the internet. Would you like to try again?'
On one machine, it says it needs to install the SQL CLR types -- both 32 and 64 bit, along with the report viewer. The other one I just tried announced that it need only the SQL CLR installs. It seems to proceed, but for unknown reasons is download dotnetfx -- .NET Framework 1.0 SP 3. I have no idea where that comes from, other than perhaps as being required by the either the MS Report Viewer or the Crystal Reports Viewer.

Tried to add the CR Viewer to the Toolbox but then I got the error "Visual Designer does not support this controls" or something like that. You should probably wrap the CR viewer in an ABL Control like said earlier?

I could find an sap note regarding the same:
1558691 - Error: The viewer could not process an event. Failed to open the connection.
Cause
Improper database credentials for the report leads to this error.
Manage and organize your Crystal Reports in a logical and efficient manner. Add all of your reports to the library and then create playlists to allow you to group common reports and either run individually or add a group. Preset parameters to speed up processing. Crystal Reports License is not required to run this application. You can view the reports in a window within the application or create reports in your chosen export format.
