Intro and therapeutic approach
Hi! My name is Kursty Castro, and I am a certified/registered clinical counsellor with BCACC. I completed my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2020. In my most recent experience, I’ve had the privilege of working for 3 years as a school counsellor in the Nanaimo area, and I have officially opened my private practice March 2025. I am also a trained and certified BC teacher.
Alongside my work, I’ve spent the last 11 years raising my 5 sweet girls ages 11 to newbord. I currently homeschool, which means I offer limited but intentional office hours to accommodate clients across Vancouver Island. I am located in South Nanaimo. I can provide my BCACC registration number so you can submit receipts to your insurance provider; however, I do not direct bill.
My sessions are person-centered and uniquely tailored to the needs of each client. I am passionate about working one-on-one with children, teens, and women.
In our sessions, I may draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative therapy and Solution-Focused techniques. As a woman of faith, I also offer the option to integrate Christian perspectives, including Scripture and prayer, for clients who desire this. This is an area I am deeply passionate about, and I have seen significant growth and transformation in clients who choose to incorporate faith into their therapeutic journey.
*Note to all clients: sessions are now booked in at a rate of $120 per hour. Our booking sytem is currently in development so if it shows there are NO AVAILABLE TIMES please email me or text and we can set something up manually. Virtual option available

Mon-Fri 10am-5pm (at the top of each hour)
Saturday 10am -12pm

If you're looking to see if counselling with me is a fit please feel free to book a 15 minute meeting (consultation).
I'm also happy to book you in straight away for a full 1 hour session and we can always adjust and shift. I look forward to booking you in for your 1 hour one-on-one individual counselling sessions.
COST
As of June 2025 rate have increased from $100 to $120 per hour (unless your contract states otherwise under a promotional rate)
