1. Overview Urshu is designed to help you discover and save academic papers. We prioritize your privacy and aim to collect only what is strictly necessary to run the app.
2. What We Collect
Account Data: If you choose to sign in using Google via Auth0, we collect your name, email, and profile picture. Guest users do not provide this data.
Library Data: Your saved papers, reading status, and custom collections are stored locally on your device.
Search History: Your recent search queries are stored locally on your device to improve your experience.
3. What We DO NOT Collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or microphone recordings.
We do not use advertising IDs or tracking software.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Third-Party Services To provide our service, we interact with the following third parties:
Auth0: For secure authentication.
Research APIs: OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Scopus, arXiv, PubMed, IEEE, and CORE (for fetching research metadata).
Google: Only if you opt to use Google Sign-in.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Local data can be cleared instantly by tapping the "Clear library" button or uninstalling the app.
Signed-in users can permanently delete their account and associated data in-app via Profile → Delete account & data.
You can also delete your account without reinstalling the app via our Data Deletion portal.
6. Children's Privacy Urshu is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
