Urokodaki Face Reveal
Sakonji Urokodaki, a crucial figure in Tanjiro's journey to becoming a swordsman and joining the Demon Slayer Corps, always donned a red Tengu mask, never once removing it during his time with Tanjiro.
At the outset of Demon Slayer, Urokodaki played a significant role in shaping Tanjiro into the person he aspired to be. Despite an initial hesitation due to Tanjiro's lack of knowledge on how to combat demons, Urokodaki eventually guided him and aided him in becoming a skilled swordsman. Throughout the two years that Tanjiro and Nezuko stayed at his residence, Urokodaki consistently kept his face concealed behind the enigmatic Tengu mask.
It is worth noting that Urokodaki could have easily removed the mask during meals or while resting, but there are no instances of him doing so. However, during a Demon Slayer exhibition in 2021, long after the manga had concluded, Urokodaki's face was finally revealed to the public. Prior to this, his face had never been depicted in the series.
Tanjiro, in one of the Taisho Era secrets, disclosed that the reason behind Urokodaki's continuous masking was that demons perceived his face as gentle and kind, making him vulnerable to their attacks. This revelation sheds light on why Urokodaki remained cautious and protected his identity throughout his interactions with demons.
While Tanjiro's explanation offers some insight, it is possible that Urokodaki had additional reasons for perpetually wearing the Tengu mask. Nevertheless, the mystery behind his choice to conceal his face adds an intriguing layer to his character, leaving fans to speculate on the true motivations behind Urokodaki's enigmatic appearance.
