1. Introduction

Welcome to Urban Moms ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

 

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our service. This includes:

        Phone number — used for account authentication via One-Time Password (OTP). We do not use your phone number for marketing calls or SMS.

        Parent's name and city — provided voluntarily by you in your profile to personalise your experience.

        Baby's date of birth — used solely to calculate your baby's current age and personalise monthly development content.

        Your role (Mother or Father) — provided voluntarily to personalise your profile display.

        Subscription status — we store only whether your account is active or inactive (paid/unpaid). We do not collect, store, or process any card numbers, bank account details, UPI IDs, or any other financial information. All payments are processed entirely by Google Play Billing.

        App usage data — anonymous information about which features you use, to help us improve the app.

 

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:

        To create and authenticate your account

        To personalise monthly baby development videos and content based on your baby's age

        To verify your subscription status and grant access to premium content

        To respond to your support requests when you contact us

        To send important app-related notifications 

        To improve the performance and content quality of the app

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.

 

4. Payment & Billing

Urban Moms uses Google Play Billing to process all payments. When you make a purchase:

        All payment information (card details, UPI, net banking, etc.) is entered directly into Google Play's secure payment interface — it never passes through our app or servers.

        We receive only a confirmation of whether the payment was successful, processed securely via RevenueCat and a backend Cloud Function.

        We store only your subscription status (active/inactive) and subscription start date in our database.

        The subscription is ₹799 for 12 months. There is no auto-renewal, no standing instruction (e-mandate), and no recurring charge of any kind.

 

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. We implement the following security measures:

        All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections

        Database security rules ensure each user can only access their own data

        Subscription status can only be updated by our secure backend server — not by the app or any user directly

        We regularly review our security practices to protect your information

 

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted third-party services which may process limited data as part of their operation:

        Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore) — for user login and data storage

        RevenueCat — for verifying in-app purchase status

        Google Play Billing — for processing payments

Each of these services operates under their own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review them.

 

7. Children's Privacy

Urban Moms is designed for parents and caregivers aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The baby's date of birth entered in the app is provided by the parent and is used only to calculate the baby's age for content personalisation — the child is never directly identified or profiled.

 

8. Your Rights

As a user of our app, you have the following rights:

        View your data: All information we hold about you is visible in the Profile screen of the app

        Update your data: You can edit your name, city, baby's birth date, and role at any time from your Profile

        Delete your data: You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data via Profile → Delete Account. This action is irreversible.

        Contact us: You may reach out to us at any time for questions about your data

 

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. If you choose to delete your account, all your personal information stored in our database will be permanently and immediately deleted. Anonymised, non-identifiable usage statistics may be retained separately for analytics purposes.

 

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Any updates will be indicated by a revised effective date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
