An Overview of Planning Theory and History Through the Lens of AICP Preparation
This course, taught by Dr. Ivis García, AICP, at Texas A&M University, offers an in-depth introduction to planning theory and history with a clear purpose: preparing students to successfully pass the AICP Certification Exam. The course includes a robust suite of resources—60 podcasts, accompanying scripts, summaries, Quizlet study sets, PowerPoints, and full-length practice exams—all designed to build both foundational knowledge and exam readiness.
Most (not all) materials are publicly shared to advance a broader mission: supporting aspiring planners everywhere in achieving AICP certification and strengthening the planning profession through increased accessibility and equity in professional development.
