Urakasumi Sake Brewery

Urakasumi was founded in 1724, perfecting the practice of brewing sake. They provide the shiogama shrine with Omiki (sacred sake). Their unique sake brings their community together. It is brewed by Toji and Kurabito's fine labor. Throughout the years, Urakasumi has grown alongside cooking practices and traditions in the local community. Koichi Saura is the current president of the 300 year old family brewing tradition (13th generation). Through their hard work, this Sake brewery is very respected, and well known sake breweries in Japan. It's influence even stretches out internationally, contributing to its successfulness.
Urakasumi Sake is made using unique rice variants, water, koji mold, and yeast. They use the basic ingredients of brewing sake, but incorporate a more modern brewing process using Miyagi rice such as Sasanishiki or Manamusume.
The taste is slightly sweet and gentle. It has a smooth and unique feeling on the tongue. This sake would pair very well with seafood, such as sushi, and would be an outstanding complement to even the finest and fresh sea-based meal.

"Setting out to try some local Sake in Tohoku, I visited Urakasumi Sake Brewery in Sendai, Japan. Being an exchange student, I hadn't drunk much sake before, but I've always been an avid beer enjoyer, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to diversify my tastes and experience something unique. I was able to try three different types of sake at the store, where there was a sake sample dispensing machine. Upon finishing the sample tastings, Urakasumi allowed me to keep my sake tasting cup, a massive bonus to the sake's deliciousness!"
