MAY 2026
Dear Ute Pass Social Club Friends (and my beloved chosen Family),
Summer is here! Hallelujah and pass the sunscreen! Time for sunny day
activities, starry night activities, and the ever-popular “I swear I was leaving
at 9 pm” activities. I plan to be outside as much as possible as I can, at
least until Mother Nature reminds me, we live in the mountains and might
get snow next Tuesday.
Please join me in giving a big, warm welcome to our newest members,
Joycelyn Dunham and Kathy Flahive! We’re so glad you’re here! The
chaos just got a little livelier as well as the fun meter going up!
Our “Dues Blitz” deadline is June 1st. Membership is still the bargain of the
century at only $40. (Where else can you get this much laughter,
friendship, and delightful chaos for that price?) Send your check to UPSC,
Box 673, Woodland Park, CO 80866 or simply hand it to Diane Browning.
Mark your calendars! Our Summer Picnic is scheduled for Tuesday, July
14th at beautiful Rainbow Valley Ranch. Roy’s Crew will be cooking for us
(menu still under wraps — fingers crossed for seconds). More tasty details
are coming in the July newsletter.
Special Projects is back in action! We’ll be making cheerful cards for
Community Partnership and Aspen Assisted Living Center on Tuesday,
June 24th at the Methodist Church. Just bring a few dollars for room use
and supplies. Come create, laugh, and spread a little sunshine. It’s
basically group therapy with glitter.
Joy Merenda has taken the wheel of our revived Taste of Adventures group, and we couldn’t be more excited!
She’s collecting restaurant suggestions and will announce a sparkling new June outing in the newsletter,
complete with an RSVP deadline. Fair warning from Joy: these restaurants are often small and cozy, so popular
spots will fill up fast. If something looks delicious, don’t wait — jump on it early and save yourself the menu envy!
At our recent luncheon, the new Board was elected and will be officially installed at our June luncheon on
Tuesday, June 16th at Panino’s. Please give these brave souls a big round of applause (and maybe a hug):
· President: Diane Browning
· Co-Vice Presidents: Deb Nagel and Sharon Porter
· Co-Secretaries: Maria Stine and Mary Jewel
· Treasurer: Gay Hasle
New officers will begin their responsibilities in August.
We’re also gently hunting for a couple of wonderful volunteers with adventurous spirits for the following positions:
· Social Chairperson
· Special Adventures (to help PJ Ellingson keep the good times rolling)
· Lending Sheet Coordinator (Julia Pine is stepping down after years of heroic service)
Julia, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping the Lending Sheet running smoothly all these years.
Your dedication has been legendary — we may need to retire your name in the Club Hall of Fame… or at least
throw you a very nice lunch!
Cheers to a bright, joyful Summer filled with fun, friendship, and mountain magic.
With much love,
Lisa Keifer, President
With much love and huge gratitude and appreciation!
