Introduction

(ΥΦΩ, commonly known as UPO or Uponians) is an Inter-Collegiate and Inter-Community Fraternity and Sorority. Founded at University of San Carlos - Technological Center in October 25, 1985. It is one of the active collegiate Fraternity and Sorority in the Philippines.

The organization objectives is Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Love, Peace, Unity and Equality. Upsilon Phi Omega originated the characteristics of the Fraternity system: secrecy, an oath of allegiance, an allegorical ritual of initiation, a motto, a badge, a seal or a symbol, a grip, passwords for recognition and a background for high idealism. The organization's Fraternity symbol consist of yellow orange circle with five rays, signifying the five purpose of the organization and within the circle there are three white and blue triangles with a Greek Fraternity letter within each triangles, it represents the three meaning of Upsilon Phi Omega. The three white and blue triangles create a center of a great reverse white triangle represent purity. and a wreaths of green laurel leaves behind represent education and knowledge. The history of Upsilon Phi Omega is definitely something to be cherished by all of its members. It is the record of past, present, and future. Therefore, with this thought paramount in mind, this history is dedicated to time. Precious things which are meant to be preserved by all members of different times and may it live forever to all our beloved brothers and sisters.

History

Upsilon Phi Omega is an Inter-collegiate Fraternity and Sorority founded on October 25, 1985, at University of San Carlos - Technological Center, Cebu City, Philippines. It is in the year 1985 the founders of Upsilon Phi Omega organized a Greek-letter Fraternity and Sorority that would truly exemplify the high ideals of Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Love, Peace, Unity and Equality as while as Self-Discipline and Loyalty to the Fraternity. The Upsilon Phi Omega vision and mission towards its members is to recognize Character Development, Excel Literary, Social Intention, Leadership Ability and Camaraderie in order to serve as role model and to contribute to the social enlistment of future generation and aiming with deep conviction that "if there is unity" and "there will be strength". The Fraternity function as local entity and have their First Chapter established in the year 1985 at University of San Carlos - TC (Britannica Chapter) where the Upsilon Phi Omega was founded. Until the Second Chapter was organized in 1987 at University of Cebu (Invar Chapter) and Third Chapter in 1989 at University of the Visayas (Zamak Chapter). Until now the Upsilon Phi Omega has more than fifteen chapters locally consist of active collegiate chapter in various Universities designated by metallic elements chapter names and the creation of Alumni Association in the year 1995. As Upsilon Phi Omega continues to grow and strengthen, so will its commitment to make meaningful contribution to society. Until now the Upsilon Phi Omega is, and shall forever remain dedicated to its ideal and its code of tenents aforementioned by Upsiphigasnonome constitution and by-laws. The Upsilon Phi Omega Fraternity and Sorority Founded 1985 of the University of San Carlos -TC, Cebu City, Philippines is not associated with any other fraternity and Sorority or any organization which may bear a similar name.
