2022 UCSC Pumpkin-Head Ski (UCSkiclub.Org)

The 2022 Pumpkin-Head Ski at the Upper Chesapeake Ski Club (UCSC) was a smashing success this year - and even included celebrity appearances from far, far away. We had "Jake" from State Farm drop in with his heart throb "Flo" from Progressive. They were eager to give deep discounts on boat insurance. We even had a creepy alien stop by to covertly keep an eye on things in the locker room (just as inappropriate as it sounds...., but perhaps not as bad as a past president entering the "scariest dish to pass" contest ! )

Conditions for waterskiing were very challenging to say the least, and mother nature brought high wind and waves to help increase the level of difficulty (just in case wearing a pumpkin on your head didn't make it hard enough!). Congratulations to all who took the plunge to ski. We saw a significant increase in slalom skiers this year. We even had a couple of frosty balls running the course at 15-off wearing a pumpkin on their heads. It was not pretty - but they did do it! Some even commented that it didn't seem to affect their skiing much! Thank you to all the drivers, spotters, camera crew and everyone who came out to laugh.

Congratulations to the Winners of the best pumpkin. The votes were captured by Kris Miller on Facebook as follows. See the middle picture above for pumpkin #'s.

The entry made by former president, was disqualified due to voting irregularities.

Thank you once again to all who helped make this event possible (making coffee, making food arrangements, scoring, boat driving, setting up portable heaters, providing tools, tables, trash cleanup, providing jokes and laughs). Looking forward to Ski-ya again next year!
