When you see a need in your world, be the one to fill it. No matter how small the difference, you can make a difference. This mentality is what began Uplifting Health.

As the daughter of immigrants, I have the awareness to understand how significant health disparities are. From a young age I've been faced with the questions: Why do people of color suffer from more disease and live shorter lives? I've been forced to confront how big of a role socio-economic factors play in health outcomes. My personal background is the reason I wanted to advocate for health equity in my community. 

Health equity begins with health accessibility. My idea was to provide access to minorities and low-income families to the most basic health items by collecting them in donation drives. I gathered a few friends with equally fierce determination, and Uplifting Health launched in May 2023.

As high schoolers, our ambitions may be high. But this is only the beginning.
