Mid-Autumn Festival Language Table

September 2026

We kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with a Mid-Autumn Festival language table! Members learned about the holiday's history and traditions, painted their own paper lanterns, and shared mooncakes together. Thank you to everyone who came out. It was amazing to see so many new faces!

Chinese New Year Celebration

February 2026

CLC rang in the Year of the Horse with a Chinese New Year celebration at the Penn Center for East Asian Studies! Members practiced Chinese calligraphy by writing the character for good fortune (fu) on red paper, enjoyed a live pipa performance, and shared snacks and tea. Happy New Year!

Movie Night

November 2025

CLC hosted a cozy movie night with snacks and friends! Members kicked things off with a short presentation from the board, grabbed some treats, and settled in to watch a Chinese film together. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Pumpkin Tart Fundraiser

April 10, 2025

CLC hosted a pumpkin tart fundraiser to bring our community together. Members made the tarts from scratch using pumpkin and red bean paste to create the most delicious dessert! We were so happy to share these yummy treats with the student body!

H Mart Trip

November 5, 2023

CLC hosted a grocery run to H Mart with free boba! Members visited H Mart, a Korean grocery store, to pick up groceries that remind them of home. From bok choy to different flavors of ramen, members stocked up! They also enjoyed free boba from Mr. Wish, on us!

Dim Sum Movie Night

October 6, 2023

CLC hosted a dim sum and movie night to kick off the 2023-2024 school year! It was our first event of the year, and it was such a success. We met so many new faces and are excited to welcome the Class of 2027 to Penn and CLC! Members enjoyed free dim sum from Dim Sum House and watched the Chinese variety show Running Man together.

Traditional Chinese Tea Lesson with Ying Laoshi

Ying Laoshi taught CLC how to prepare traditional Chinese tea with a modern twist. Members learned how to make oolong, green, black, and white tea! They also made boba and enjoyed roll cakes from Paris Baguette. Thank you to everyone who came out to learn with us. We hope you enjoyed it!

Paper Lanterns and Tanghulu Making

CLC celebrated Yuánxiāo Jié (元宵節), the Lantern Festival, by making paper lanterns and tanghulu! Club members dipped all kinds of fruit, like oranges, grapes, and lots and LOTS of strawberries, in sugar syrup to make tanghulu. Thanks to everyone who joined us. We hope you had a blast!

Dumpling Making

CLC celebrated Chinese New Year by making and eating dumplings! We filled our dumplings with all kinds of fillings, including beef, cabbage, green onions, mushrooms, carrots, and more. Along with making dumplings, we watched Kung Fu Panda. Thank you to everyone who came!

Chinatown Social

CLC hosted a social where we got to practice Mandarin together! We walked to Chinatown for lunch at Happy Lamp Hotpot and dessert at Prince Tea House.

CLC kicked off the semester with a movie night! Members learned about the club, met the executive board, watched a movie, and enjoyed free boba and food from Dim Sum House. We also announced open board positions for the year.
