I am currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Seoul, South Korea. I am deeply motivated by the future of power systems, particularly in the integration of renewable energy, where the key to success lies in reinforcing the grid through innovative technologies.

Prior to this position, I was a faculty member at Hanbat National University in Daejeon, Korea. During my time there, I established research in digital twins and grid-forming technologies, published key research papers, and secured tenure in a relatively short period. I also made significant educational contributions, focusing on renewable energy and power engineering.

My research interests include the integration of multiple distributed energy sources, building hierarchical systems via fast-response inverter-based resources (IBR), extracting scientific insights from data, and applying advanced machine learning methods at scale.

I earned my Ph.D. from Korea University in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where I was a member of the Power Energy Lab under the guidance of Prof. Gilsoo Jang. My doctoral research focused on hierarchical approaches to addressing challenges in reactive power management, renewable energy forecasting, and the interpretation of electromagnetic transient (EMT) and time-series analyses for multiple power system devices. I received the Global Ph.D. Fellowship Program from the Korean Government in 2013.Â
