2026's Day Info

Date & Location for 2026's Physics Teacher Day = Fri, Nov 27th @ UoA's Physics Lecture Theater (building 303)

Info and a link to register for the day will be posted in term 3 of 2026.  

Important notes for planned parts of the day: 

• For the last 2 years the MoE's NEX funding has paid for folks to attend, but we do not expect this to continue in 2026. The expected cost to attend should be around $55 per person.  

• But as UoA's venue is larger than last year's AUT, there should not be a realistic limit on how many can attend.

Be aware, if multiple teachers are attending from 1 school only a single registration form is needed. So have a chat with your workmates before registering, if you're lucky enough to have physics-teaching workmates!

• Info from UoA Physics and Engineering departments

• The traditional teacher-run sharing of ideas and Q&A

• A session looking at where we're at with NZ physics curriculum and assessment in late 2026. 

But a word of warning: it is not expected that the "updated" or "next" version of Yr11 science, or Yr 12 or 13 physics curriculum will be out before early 2027.  Thus we may spend some time with the state of Yr0-10 science curriculum and how that may play out in various schools in/around Auckland, Waikato and Northland.

• If time allows, a discussion on any issues that arise from the Level 3, 2 or 1 external physics exams.
