The Greater Upstate New York Inquiry-Based Learning Consortium (UNYIBL) receives support from the National Science Foundation (NSF-DUE #1925188). We invite members of our consortium to apply for mini-grants for collaborations on IBL projects, for up to $500 per collaborator. Because the funding is provided by NSF, members who work at Canadian institutions are not eligible to apply (sorry Canadian folks). Click here to see the official request for proposal. Here are some examples of projects that we supports:
Visit someone's class and have follow-up discussions about the class (virtually or in-person).
Organize a special session (paper session, workshop, panel session, roundtable discussions, etc.) at a regional conference (e.g. MAA Seaway Section meetings, NYMATYC Section meetings)
Organize and facilitate a discussion or a workshop at your own institution about inquiry-based learning.
Work on course material or course modules with someone else.
Organize one or several themed tea or lunch meetings to discuss IBL.
Organizing a small group to learn something together (such as a reading group). We could pay for your time and the book/materials needed for your study group.
Write a blog post to share your IBL experience in a particular context (e.g. an implementation of a non-traditional assessment in your class)
If you have an idea that is not on the above list, talk to someone at the leadership team or email uny.ibl@gmail.com.
The mini-grants are open for applications for the calendar year 2021. Please submit your proposal here. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis so if you have an idea for a project, you should apply as soon as possible. You can submit your proposal at here. Please contact uny.ibl@gmail.com if you have any questions.
