Educators' Workshop

Generously funded by the Archaeological Institute of America (join the AIA here) Outreach Grant, this workshop aims to build and strengthen relationships between Missouri area Middle School and High School teachers and Missouri area scholars and academics. Teaching the ancient past introduces unique challenges into the classroom and this will be an opportunity to have a conversation about these potential pedagogical hurdles--a conversation that will hopefully continue beyond this meeting.

In this workshop, teachers will also have the opportunity to consider how they would bring new scholarship into their classrooms in concrete ways. At the end of this workshop, teachers will receive a certificate of completion for two hours of professional development work.

The workshop is by invitation only, but as of October 3 there are still spots available! If you are interested, email the organizer Dr. Julia Troche at JuliaTroche@MissouriState.edu .

Meeting information: The workshop will be held in Strong Hall, room 400, on Missouri State University campus. Lunch will be provided. Parking is free on the weekends in commuter lots, such as Bear South (more here: https://www.missouristate.edu/transportation/parking/visitor-and-metered-parking.htm)

We have currently closed registration for the Educators' workshop (as of Saturday 9/12). There may be spots that open up during the coming week, so if you are interested in attending please email the organizer directly at: JuliaTroche@MissouriState.edu
