I do not have that plugin to test with so I do not know if this will be of any help but I had a similar problem with another plugin & to get the preview to work properly I had to marquee select the pixel layer before opening the plugin.

There is nothing you can do unfortunately, it's just the way they have written the plugin code and it's not completely compatible with Affinity. I might suggest you contact Imagenomic and make a request for compatibility with Affinity Photo and the issue you are having, maybe they can shed some light on the issue.

I shoot mainly portraits and I have been using the following plugins for years now. I do a lot of skin retouching: healing, D&B, skin tone balance for a high glam look. Some of my plugins are no longer updated and so that triggered me to ask what newer alternatives and methods are available to replace my current set of plugins.

I am a big fan of the Infinite Tools plugins by Pratik Naik and Co. Very professional stuff and all are useful. The Infinite Retouch has frequency separation and other things similar to Delicious Retouch.

These are other standalone programs that also offer portrait adjustments (of varying usefulness) and include PS plugins: Anthropics Portrait Pro 23, Photo Toolbox Portrait/Skin Finer, ON1 Portrait plugin, Radiant Photo and Luminar Neo. (The last three being the weakest performers. I'd say Portrait Pro used judiciously is the best of these.)

Does anyone know how to totally remove this from photoshop? I ran the uninstaller, and it still shows up in photoshop's plugin menu. I went to \users\appdata\roaming and deleted the whole remaining \imagenomic folder, and it still shows up in photoshop's menu.

What exactly do you do to retain texture? Your technique, so I full understand, is to make two skin softening layers via Portraiture 2. One for the highlights and one for the shadows? You thanked Lindsay, did she show you this? I was hoping to see somthing that retains all texture like a frequency separation but with portraiture.

Thanks Phillip! :) I didn't realize that learning a program on your own and then sharing it was ripping people off. I guess exposing pictures properly is ripping the first photographer off too, and using photoshop to edit pictures and using portraiture to edit pictures. I guess everyone rips everyone off. I'll keep that in mind.

Because of the Laws of the Universe, the best expressions in portraiture and the most exciting action in sports are always going to be captured on a frame that has something else wrong with it. Maybe the lighting is off, maybe the only camera you have with you is on your phone, maybe there was a glitch in the autofocus, maybe you forgot to reset an extreme setting you made on a previous photo. But it will only happen with the very best, unrepeatable images.

I find a denoise plugin a must, as they do a much better job than camera raw and photoshop. I like a versatile plugin like Topaz Adjust for boosting colors, detail, pseudo-HDR and vintage type effects. Certainly not a must-have but very useful. Those are the only two I use all the time. So:
