To start a design process, the need for the design needs to be identified. The need for the design is essential because the design aids the students in collecting data and getting the correct measurements.

After identifying the need, background research for the project begins. Having background information aids with the design of the project. The goal at the end of the project is to make sure students have the necessary kit to aid them with their classes.

Performance of the design was also needed for the design process. The goal for the performance would be to streamline the software with the hardware in which case devices would be configured through a computer interface. A detailed design was created after thoroughly researching thermo-fluid applications and LabVIEW. Also, after determining the performance specification of the kit, the initial rough draft of the design was hand drawn to have a visual of what the prototype looked like.
