Biking

The idea I had for this piece was very simple: Rayquaza, clouds and a girl riding her bike on a countryside road. While sketching, I decided to change the time of the setting from the day to the twilight, in order to make the colours a bit more interesting and to push myself out of my comfort zone.

In addition, I took inspiration from Asteroid Ill's great art and decided to make Rayquaza feel huge: this is achieved by aerial perspective for the back of its body and by placing clouds in front of it, in order to give the viewer a measure of comparison to understand the scale of the Pokemon.

Taking inspiration from dragons inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I made Rayquaza look at the girl, as if it's just passing by and noticing her: this detail is used to express the contrast between the power of the dragon and the defenseless human being, which also helps expressing a slight feeling of fear in the viewer.
