Privacy Policy for Unsaid
Last updated: 6/21/2026
Unsaid is a private, invite-only communication app designed for trusted groups. Unsaid lets group members share anonymous posts, comments, reactions, votes, Golden Moment photos, and optional AI-powered prompts or summaries inside private groups.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Unsaid collects, how it is collected, how it is used, when it may be shared, how long it may be retained, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Unsaid may collect the following types of information:
Account and onboarding information
- Phone number or phone-number-related information you provide during onboarding.
- App user identifiers used to create and maintain your Unsaid account.
- Group membership and invitation information.
- Consent choices, such as agreement to Terms & Safety Rules and Data Sharing Consent.
Contacts information
- If you agree in the app and grant Contacts access, Unsaid may read limited contact information from your device, such as contact names and phone numbers.
- Contact names and phone numbers are processed on your device only and are not uploaded to Unsaid’s servers.
- This information is used to match phone numbers to recognizable names for invitations, group members, rosters, and related group activity inside private groups.
- Unsaid does not sell your contacts and does not use contacts for advertising or tracking.
- If you do not allow Contacts access, Unsaid will use fallback displays, such as phone numbers or generic labels where needed.
User-generated content
- Posts, comments, reactions, votes, and other content you create inside groups.
- Golden Moment photos or other media you choose to upload.
- Group names, group icons, group memberships, invitations, and related group activity.
- Reports, hide/block actions, and moderation-related records created when users report objectionable content or hide/block abusive users.
Microphone and AI-related information
- If you activate AI-powered features such as Instigator, Unsaid may process short audio snippets captured through the phone’s microphone while the feature is active.
- These snippets may be converted into transcripts and used with recent group conversation context to generate anonymous, relevant prompts or other in-app AI responses.
- Unsaid does not store raw audio recordings after processing.
Device and notification information
- Push notification tokens and device identifiers needed to deliver notifications.
- Basic device or app state information needed to operate the app reliably.
Diagnostics and usage information
- Crash logs, error logs, performance data, and limited diagnostic information used to troubleshoot issues, improve reliability, maintain security, and prevent abuse.
2. How We Use Information
Unsaid uses information to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Manage private group membership and invitations.
- Display posts, comments, reactions, votes, and uploaded media to active members of the relevant group.
- Match phone numbers to recognizable names on your device when you agree to Contacts access.
- Deliver push notifications.
- Support AI-powered features when you activate or use them.
- Provide Golden Moment photo posting and viewing.
- Apply safety protections, including reporting, hiding/blocking, moderation review, and narrow safety filtering.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Improve app performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Data Sharing Consent
Before continuing past onboarding, Unsaid shows an in-app Data Sharing Consent notice. This notice explains that Unsaid may share limited data with service providers to operate app features, including AI processing, and may use contacts on-device for contact matching if you grant Contacts access.
Unsaid does not send content to third-party AI providers unless the user has accepted the Data Sharing Consent notice and activates or uses an AI-powered feature.
By continuing after accepting that notice, you agree that Unsaid may:
- Use third-party AI providers, including OpenAI for audio transcription when Instigator is activated and Anthropic/Claude for Instigator prompts, Sunday Revelations recap text, and other AI-generated prompts, summaries, or responses.
- If you allow Contacts access, read contacts on your device to match phone numbers to recognizable names for invitations, group members, rosters, and group activity.
Unsaid does not sell your data or contacts. Contacts are not uploaded to Unsaid’s servers and are not used for advertising. Audio recordings are not stored by Unsaid after processing.
4. AI Processing and Third-Party AI Services
Unsaid includes optional AI-powered features, including Instigator and Sunday Revelations.
Instigator
When a user activates Instigator, Unsaid may send short audio snippets captured through the phone’s microphone to OpenAI for speech-to-text transcription. The resulting transcript and recent group conversation context may then be sent to Anthropic/Claude to generate anonymous, relevant prompts that appear in the group’s feed. Audio recordings are not stored by Unsaid after processing.
Sunday Revelations
Once a week, Unsaid may generate a recap of group activity. To draft recap copy, Unsaid may send short excerpts of group post text and aggregate engagement counts, such as votes and reactions, to Anthropic/Claude. Sunday Revelations does not send audio, phone numbers, contact lists, authentication tokens, push tokens, device identifiers, or roster identities.
Third-party AI service providers
Unsaid may use third-party AI service providers including:
- OpenAI, for speech-to-text transcription.
- Anthropic/Claude, for AI-generated prompts, summaries, or responses.
Unsaid does not sell user data or share user data for advertising.
Unsaid does not use contacts, phone numbers, roster identities, authentication tokens, push tokens, or device identifiers to train AI models.
Third-party AI providers process data only as needed to provide the requested app functionality and under their own service terms, contracts, privacy safeguards, and applicable privacy laws.
5. Microphone Use
Unsaid only uses the microphone when you activate features that require it, such as Instigator.
When Instigator is active:
- The app may listen through the phone’s microphone.
- Audio may be processed to create transcripts.
- Transcripts and recent group context may be used to generate anonymous prompts.
- Raw audio recordings are not stored by Unsaid after processing.
- The feature may automatically terminate after a set period or when the initiator leaves the feed, depending on the app’s current behavior.
You can manage microphone permission through iOS Settings.
6. Contacts
Unsaid may request access to your device contacts to make invitations and group activity easier to recognize.
If you agree in the app and grant Contacts access, Unsaid reads contacts on your device to match group-member phone numbers to recognizable names for the roster, invitations, post attribution, and group activity.
Contact names and phone numbers are processed on your device only. They are not uploaded to Unsaid’s servers, not sold, not shared with advertisers, not used for advertising or marketing, and not used to train AI models.
If you do not grant Contacts access, Unsaid will continue to work and will use fallback displays, such as phone numbers or generic labels where needed. You can manage Contacts permission in iOS Settings.
Because contacts are processed on your device only, deleting your Unsaid account does not require contacts to be deleted from Unsaid’s servers. Unsaid does not store uploaded contacts on its servers. Uninstalling Unsaid or denying Contacts permission in iOS Settings ends Unsaid’s access to your device contacts.
7. Photos and Uploaded Media
If you upload photos or media, such as Golden Moments, Unsaid stores and displays that content for active members of the relevant group.
Unsaid uses access controls designed to limit group content to active members of the relevant group. When a user joins a group, they should not see content created before they joined. When a user leaves a group, they should not see future content from that group.
You can manage photo permissions through iOS Settings.
8. Data Sharing
Unsaid does not sell personal data.
Unsaid does not share personal data with third parties for advertising.
Unsaid may share limited data with service providers that help operate the app, including:
- Supabase, for authentication, database, storage, and backend services.
- Expo and Apple push notification services, for delivering notifications.
- OpenAI, if speech-to-text transcription is used after the user has accepted Data Sharing Consent and activates an AI-powered feature.
- Anthropic/Claude, if AI-generated prompts, summaries, or responses are used after the user has accepted Data Sharing Consent and activates or uses an AI-powered feature.
- Diagnostic or infrastructure providers used to monitor reliability, app performance, security, and errors.
Unsaid uses service providers only as needed to provide app functionality, maintain security, troubleshoot issues, or comply with legal requirements. These providers are required by their service terms, contracts, or applicable law to use privacy and security safeguards appropriate to the data they process and consistent with this Privacy Policy.
Unsaid does not sell user data, does not share user data for advertising, and does not use contacts, phone numbers, roster identities, authentication tokens, push tokens, or device identifiers to train AI models.
9. Private Group Access
Unsaid is designed for private, invite-only groups.
Group content is intended to be available only to active members of the relevant group. This includes posts, comments, reactions, votes, uploaded photos, AI-generated prompts, and AI-generated summaries associated with that group.
Users who are not members of a group should not have access to that group’s content. Former members should not have access to future content from groups they leave.
10. Safety, Reporting, Blocking, and Content Filtering
Unsaid is a private, invite-only communication app for trusted groups. It is not a public social network.
To help protect users and comply with app safety requirements, Unsaid may use a narrow safety filter before posts or comments are submitted. This filter is designed to block only clearly objectionable or abusive content, such as targeted hateful slurs, explicit threats, sexual exploitation content, encouragement of self-harm, or other severe abuse.
This safety filter is not intended to block ordinary profanity, candid conversation, disagreement, jokes, venting, or normal private-group communication.
The safety filter runs as part of the posting process. If a post or comment appears to violate Unsaid’s Terms & Safety Rules, it may be blocked and the user may be asked to revise it before posting. Blocked text is not posted to the group, saved as a post/comment, or sent to third-party AI providers.
Users can also report objectionable content and hide or block abusive anonymous senders through in-app controls. Reports and block/hide actions may create moderation records that help Unsaid review safety issues, enforce its Terms, remove violating content, and restrict abusive users.
Unsaid aims to review reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
11. Notifications
Unsaid may use push notification tokens to send notifications about group activity, invitations, posts, comments, reactions, AI prompts, summaries, or other app activity.
You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.
12. Data Retention
Unsaid keeps information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain group history for active members, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, enforce app policies, maintain security, and operate the service.
Some content may remain visible to active group members according to the app’s group and content rules unless deleted or removed according to available app features.
Reports, hide/block actions, and moderation records may be retained for safety, abuse prevention, enforcement, and legal reasons.
Raw audio recordings are not stored by Unsaid after processing.
13. Account Deletion
You can delete your account from within the app.
When you delete your account, Unsaid deletes or deactivates your account information and associated app data according to the app’s deletion process.
Because contacts are processed on your device only, Unsaid does not store uploaded contacts on its servers. Deleting your Unsaid account does not require server-side contact deletion because Unsaid does not maintain a server-side contacts database.
Some information may be retained only if necessary for legal, security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, backup, or operational reasons.
14. User Control
You can:
- Delete your account from within the app.
- Leave groups.
- Manage notification permissions through your device.
- Manage microphone, contacts, and photo permissions through your device.
- Choose whether to grant microphone, contacts, photo, and notification permissions.
- Choose whether to activate AI-powered features.
- Choose whether to agree to AI processing and on-device contact matching during onboarding.
- Deny Contacts access and continue using fallback displays, such as phone numbers or generic labels.
- Report, hide, or block content/users through available in-app controls.
15. Data Security
Unsaid uses technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect data, including secure HTTPS transmission and trusted infrastructure providers.
No system can guarantee perfect security. If you believe your account or data may have been compromised, contact us at the email below.
16. Children’s Privacy
Unsaid is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify users through the app or by updating this page. Continued use of Unsaid after updates means you accept the updated policy.
