Through the Flower - A Library By and About Women
at the UNM-Valencia Campus Library

Through the Flower was founded by Judy Chicago in 1977 as a 501(c)3 non- profit organization to manage the overwhelming public support of The Dinner Party (1974-1979).  Since its inception, Through the Flower's activities have focused on education and continues to engage in numerous initiatives aimed at providing opportunities for learning about women's history through art.

In 1996, Through the Flower donated over 1000 books by and about women and women’s achievements to the UNM - Valencia Campus Library where it is housed in its own area. This collection was Judy's personal reference library while creating The Dinner Party. The collection has continued to grow through additional donations and is in the available for in-person browsing, inter-library loan and lending to Valencia County residents.
