Volunteering
During your time as a Regents' Scholar at UNM, you are required to complete a certain number of "activity hours." A fantastic way to do this is through volunteering in our community! These are things that you can do either on your own, or with a group. We hope to be able to do some of these together next semester! Please check out the information and links below.
ABQ BioPark- ABQ BioPark always needs volunteers who are passionate about conservation and wildlife! Volunteers enjoy free admission to all BioPark facilities. Positions vary, so check out their website for more information!

Agora Crisis Center- Agora volunteers go through extensive training to help anyone who is in need of emotional support. Volunteers become crisis hotline specialists and provide compassion, support, and resources to not only those who are experiencing a crisis, but also to those who might just need somebody to talk to.

Artful Life- Artful Life works to transform communities through collaborative art. They are looking for volunteers to implement their varying projects.

Friends of the Sandia Mountains- FOSM recruits volunteers to work with the Forest Service to protect and maintain the scenery of the mountains and surrounding forests. They need help with things like trail building/maintenance, graffiti removal, etc.

Habitat For Humanity- This organization strives to build and provide affordable housing in communities around the nation. The "Greater Albuquerque" Habitat for Humanity works with low-income families to help build and sell homes, as well as assist with home repairs. They are seeking volunteers!

Kids Empowered- This group has a mission to educate elementary school children on how to prevent, recognize, and stop child abuse. They also work to educate children on bullying and neglect. They are seeking volunteer facilitators to teach their lessons.

Lobo Food Pantry- What better way to spend your volunteer time than right here on campus! Lobo Food Pantry provides free groceries to students in need, as well as to members around the UNM community. Contact the LoboRespect Advocacy Center for more information.

Presbyterian Hospital Volunteering- This is a perfect opportunity for all of our RS students in the pre-health fields! Presbyterian Healthcare Services offers volunteer positions in ABQ, Rio Rancho, and Santa Fe. There are positions in Hospice, Cancer Care, Emergency Room, Gift Shops, and many more.

Roadrunner Food Bank is a non-profit in Albuquerque that seeks to eliminate food insecurity in NM. They are always seeking volunteers- both individually and groups!

Running505- This is a program designed to promote active, healthy lifestyles for youth (5th-8th grade) in Albuquerque. They are seeking volunteers to provide mentorship and health education for the youth at one of their multiple locations. Volunteers also receive free registration for their fun-runs and tickets to their annual gala fundraiser.
