Background

After studying Cognitive Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence at Utrecht University, I was both amazed at the potential of modern innovations, and frustrated by how few of these tackle sustainability challenges. Therefore I studied Sustainable Development at Uppsala University, specializing in Transformational Change through entrepreneurship. Unlock the Future is part of my master's thesis. Currently I coordinate a bachelor's course in Sustainable Futures at CEMUS, Uppsala University.

Why this game?

To achieve the rapid and deep transformational change necessary to stay within Planetary Boundaries, we need to bring people together and imagine radically alternative futures on a scale never seen before. For this to happen, we need strategies that dare to go beyond the familiar. Games can invite people to come together with an open mindset, to see new possibilities and to have conversations that matter, with people they care about.

Background

Being interested in both psychology and Sustainable Devevelopment, I am a BSc psychology and am studying a double Master in Sustainable Development and Social Psychology. As a change agent, I research effective ways to empower societies around the planet to change towards pro-environmental attitudes and behaviour. Often, science and application are performed in separate fields that only occasionally communicate. To me, they are absolutely intertwined - and therefore I connect them in my work.

Why this game?

Escape Games have a unique potential to overcome the usual barriers of communicating such a difficult problem as climate change. As such, they have great potential to facilitate change, and to allow new pathways to climate action.

Background

During my studies in Social Psychology I was very much aware of the different environmental crises we are facing. Therefore, I decided to continue my study carrier by studying a Sustainable Development master at Uppsala University. Additionally, during my gap year in 2017-2018 I helped in the founding of a start-up in Finland that wants to promote pro-environmental behavior and was one of the founding members of the Nordic Ocean Watch in Finland. Furthermore, I am currently founding a nature-inclusive agriculture project named Föda Silva in the south of the Netherlands.

Why this game?

The only way forward is by creating an inclusive sustainable future! I believe and know that we can accomplish that, but it does require that we are all on board. We all need to understand and internalise the issues and become part of the solution. The best way to learn is by playing and experiencing. This game gives you the oppertunity to have fun, start experiencing and learn how to create a better tomorrow!
