The world around us is increasingly highlighting the need that humans should make good and careful use of material resources and energy. The European Commission is in this respect driving the need to shift towards a decarbonised economy by 2050, with tourism being one key sector where relevant mitigation activities will greatly contribute to lower impacts on climate change. Such a shift to low carbon tourism (LCT) requires all tourism related stakeholders, such as individual tourists, travel agents, taxi operators, restaurant owners, waiters, hotel staff, tour operators, public officials, trade union leaders, educators, business managers and human resource managers to be knowledgeable, up to-date and proactive towards fostering low carbon tourism activites. To explore and address these challenges and opportunities, a business breakfast seminar entitled 'Unlocking Low Carbon Tourism' is being held in Malta on Wednesday 31st January 2024 for individuals interested in learning more about LCT and its enablers. This event, funded by the support of the European Commission is intended to precisely raise awareness and discussion on how the transition to Low Carbon Tourism activities can be fostered and accelerated through a number of enablers such as policies, technologies as well as education at various levels. Participants will also gain insights into case-studies as well as information on how freely available e-Learning content developed with the support of the European Commission can be exploited. For this purpose, this event will be structured in three sequential sessions as follows:
> To understand better the concepts of Low Carbon Tourism (LCT) and its enablers;
> To network with relevant stakeholders.
