Plan Your Trip
Getting to Campus
If your travel plans involve flying, the most convenient airport to arrange your travel to is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. From the airport, we recommend taking the Link light rail from SeaTac to the Capitol Hill station. It is a one-mile walk from the Capitol Hill station to campus, but if you'd prefer not to lug your luggage a mile down Broadway, you can hop on the First Hill streetcar at Broadway & Denny, one of the exits of the Capitol Hill light rail station. (Here's information on how to pay.) Take this streetcar to Broadway & Terrace to be dropped off a block from Campion Hall or get off at Broadway & Marion for the Silver Cloud Hotel.
Parking on Campus
We recommend parking in the Murphy garage on Seattle U's campus (on E James Way between Broadway and 12th Ave). Information on how to pay for campus parking can be found here. The Murphy garage is just next to Campion Hall, the residence hall where most UnKnot participants will be staying.
Please note that nobody is permitted to park in the Visitor Lot (near the SINE building) on weekdays between 9am and 3pm.
Residence Halls/Dorms at Seattle U
Most participants in UnKnot V will be provided with housing in Campion Hall (914 E Jefferson St, Seattle, WA 98122). For those receiving residence hall accommodations, you may check in anytime after 1pm on Friday, July 12th, and check out time is anytime before 10am on Monday, July 15th (unless you have notified the organizers that you plan to stay fewer than three nights).
Late Check In: The service desk at Campion Hall is open until 11 p.m., but if you need to check in after it closes, it’s not a problem! You should go to Campion Hall and call the Department of Public Safety 24/7 number (206-296-5990). DPS will contact our on-call person who will come right to the doors, let you in, check you in, and make sure you get to your room.
In the residence hall rooms, beds are made up with sheets, a blanket, and a pillow with a pillowcase. Rooms also provide each person a small plastic cup, a bit of soap, a washcloth, a hand towel, and a small bath towel. Most undergraduates are assigned a double room with a roommate (unless paying for to upgrade to a private room). Grad students, postdocs, and faculty are being provided private rooms. Each floor has communal bathrooms with private showers/dressing stalls. (You may want to bring flip-flops/shower shoes if you have them!)
Hotel Accommodations
We expect most UnKnot V conference-goers will be staying with us in the residence halls on Seattle University's campus. If you did not request a room in a residence hall on your registration form but would like to inquire about this option, please contact local organizer Allison Henrich at henricha@seattleu.edu.
For those who would prefer to stay off campus, there are a number of hotel options available in the Seattle area.
The Silver Cloud Hotel on Broadway is the most convenient option, right across the street from campus.
For more budget-conscious attendees, we recommend expanding your search. The Capitol Hill Link Light Rail Station is within walking distance of campus. Here is a webpage with recommendations of hotels that are within walking distance of another Link light rail station: https://hotelsnearthemetro.com/hotels-near-the-metro-in-seattle
