The CP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers are required for device operation as a Virtual COM Port to facilitate host communication with CP210x products. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver.

I am in the process of setting up Universal Print for my company. We are already using M365 for everything, so we already have the licenses. I got almost everything working except for the drivers. I am not able to push out the drives that include all the finishing features we are paid for, like hole punch, staple, etc. I tried following the instructions in the link below, but it is still using a generic universal driver where we get no options.

@RickWijn / @kismat I understand your concerns here. However, Universal Print and traditional print drivers work on different technologies. Universal Print prints using PWG's standard IPP protocol eliminating the need for drivers. Printer manufacturers are developing firmwares that work with Universal Print using the IPP protocol.

Universal Print connector is a solution that tries to fill-in the gap until all printers can support Universal Print. It does the translation of driver model to IPP and this translation may vary depending on the quality of driver. I explained this in reply to another post - -print-discussions/universal-print-konica-minolta-li....

@kismat - the article you included is for Ricoh adding "direct" support for Universal Print in their printers. They do not mention about their existing drivers and how it works with Universal Print connector.

we have the same issue here in two of our schools but the issue is that we cannot select stapling and other finishing options of the devices we have purchased as despite manufacturers issuing new drivers, they do not get presented to the clients through the Universal print cloud Share.

The Lexmark Universal Print Driver provide users and administrators with a standardized, one-driver solution for their printing needs. Instead of installing and managing individual drivers for each printer model, administrators can install the Lexmark Universal Print Driver for use with a variety of both mono and color laser printers and multi-function devices.

I am trying to teleoperate an UR5 robot through ROS.

I have been using the RosActionClient follow_joint_trajectory which has a server in this code: universal_robot/ur_driver at kinetic-develĀ  fmauch/universal_robotĀ  GitHub.

Universal printing employs generic printer drivers instead of standard model-specific drivers, potentially simplifying the burden of driver management on host computers. The availability of universal print drivers depends on the capabilities of the user device, host, and print server software. In certain configurations, universal printing might not be available.

You will not lose capabilities by moving from a traditional driver to the Global Print Driver. We offer 100% feature and design parity between the Xerox Global Print Driver and traditional Xerox drivers for most Xerox products.

Ensoniq:

- Limited support for Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO card. Only WSS digitalĀ

Ā sound, line-in control, CD-in control and joyport are working. Any other

Ā function will require the original TSR and drivers.

Anyway, the intent of this tool, as I understand it, is to invoke the PnP configuration parameters for a broad range of audio cards that are usually impossible to find the original PnP configuration utilities for. It was not uncommon for generic / OEM / budget cards to lack a "driver" component that can be loaded in CONFIG.SYS either (the wedge shaped Aztech ISA cards that HP pumped out in the thousands, for example). The Aztech cards require that you invoke a proprietary PnP configuration utility at boot to initialize the hardware and set configuration, and then a separate .EXE mixer file to set volume levels... exactly like this utility. Instead of having to track down card-specific utilities for the numerous unmarked ISA sound cards that are otherwise impossible to configure for use in DOS games, this utility has you covered. I have at least 3 currently "DOS unusable" OPTI / Crystal / Analog Devices PNP ISA audio cards sitting in a pile that I haven't been able to find compatible drivers/config utilities for, so I'm stoked to give this utility a try. Providing a low footprint, generic solution to initialize a broad range of PnP ISA sound hardware is incredibly useful, like the CuteMouse driver it's sure to become a staple for making hard to ID hardware useful again without the fuss and drama of tracking down original or "close enough" configuration and driver software for each card you find out in the wild.

In the testing phase of setting up universal print at my organization I noticed a lot of the printing preferences features are missing. When using Universal Print Class Driver I am limited to Layout settings and Paper/Quality. Some of my users need access to more than these preferences. The main thing missing that is needed is the Secure Print feature. If I change the driver to the Konica driver, the feature show up but, the Universal Print Driver errors out. Has anyone run into this on the Konica printers? I will list the printer models we have below as well as attach pictures of what I am talking about.

@Serge Malchair Hey, I'm talking about Microsoft Universal Driver. When adding the printers to the connector I used the basic Konica drivers. Are you saying I need to use Konica Universal Print drivers for Microsoft Universal print or are we talking about two different things?

@AdamK_DC / @JoshEberly - For best experience, printers need to work directly with Universal Print using the IPP standard protocol. Konica Minolta has announces firmware updates and printers that do so - -us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-partner-integrations#k....

If you are using a connector, then what options show-up really depends on the quality of print driver being used on connector. Universal Print uses the Windows Print schema to identify attributes - however, some drivers use their own schema which can be very hard to interpret. For more details on how this is done, refer to the documentation. You may want to your printer OEM on whether they recommend a particular driver to be used on connector.

Regarding Secure printing - are you using PIN? For printers that work on protocols (instead of drivers), Windows added support for PIN printing in Windows 11. Universal Print printers work on protocols as well and PIN printing is supported provided the printer OEM has enabled the PIN option for their Universal Print ready printers.

Hi

I have the exactly same issue with Konica Printers (759e), the stappling feature is missing and this is really annoying. Did you find a solution ? I installed latest konica drivers but no changes.

Thanks @bouyaka. We appreciate your persistence with the solution and making it work.Ā

Universal Print is trying to shift industry to "driverless" printing and use PWG's IPP standard. We understand there are printers that are not yet ready. We are trying our best to support them via connector. Sometimes drivers provide information in a very customized way that may not be understood by connector. Our partners are working hard to make it work with their drivers :).

Hopefully you can help others in the community as you get experienced with using Universal Print :)

With Universal Health Coverage (UHC) now entrenched among the top global development priorities, questions arise as to the conditions under which politicians commit to UHC and why certain strategies for health financing and access are favoured over others. The Ethiopian government has been piloting and scaling-up Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI) for the informal sector since 2010 and is establishing Social Health Insurance for formal sector workers as a means of achieving UHC. CBHI covers 11 million people making it one of the largest health insurance schemes in Africa. This paper employs a process tracing methodology to examine the political drivers of the adoption and evolution of state health insurance based on 28 key informant interviews conducted between 2015 and 2018 with politicians, policymakers and donor officials. The paper highlights the inadequacy of existing theories-focusing on interest group mobilisation, electoral competition and bureaucratic actors-for explaining the Ethiopian case. Instead the paper proposes an 'Adapted Political Settlements' framework that explains the state's push to expand CBHI and stalled progress on SHI. This framework highlights the interests and ideas of the ruling coalition as important drivers of reform. In a context of ruling party dominance and minimal threat from electoral competition, the ruling coalition has sought to build political legitimacy through the delivery of socioeconomic progress, including health services. The policy idea of health insurance, meanwhile, has secured elite commitment due to its fit with deeply held ideas within the ruling coalition concerning the importance of self-reliance and resource mobilisation for development. Finally, the centralisation of power within the ruling coalition prior to 2012 enabled the emergence of a long-term developmental vision and the marginalisation of opposition to health insurance, while fragmentation of the ruling coalition since 2012 has led SHI to stall.

If you see that a UPD allows you to print to all the devices, a logical question is, why doesn't everyone just use these drivers? There are a few answers to that question. The first answer is that many people do not know they exist and work so well. A second reason could be that there are features in the specific driver for a printer that may not be available in the UPD.

When it comes to print fleets, having print drivers that are simple to manage and maintain becomes much more important. When you have 1,000 users, each with a different computer, the driver management can be a full-time job for an IT technician if you do not use Universal Print Drivers. 0852c4b9a8
