We plead to anyone and everyone who believes in aiding their heroes in their time of need. Please unite with us to protect our safety by supporting our plea. copy and send or post to teamsters/UPS.
We are in a global crisis that has created unforeseen concerns and issues to our essential workers. We are pleading for your assistance in dealing with these unforeseeable issues that arise daily. These heroes risk their lives and their family’s lives every day, every hour, and every minute they are exposed at work providing the world with their essentials. We proudly serve our community, our company, our country, and humanity without question. We beg of you to help us continue to serve our duty by supplying your employees with hazard pay during their sacrifice and compliance thru this global pandemic.
“Hazardous duty is duty performed under circumstances in which an accident could result in serious injury or death. Duty involving a physical hardship is duty that may not in itself be hazardous but causes extreme physical discomfort or distress and is not adequately alleviated by protective or mechanical devices.”
Procedure/surgical masks are made for limited exposure in the general public and are inefficient for viruses only protecting against bacteria and pollen. The scope of our jobs exceeds what these masks are capable of protecting us from. We need quality protection from efficient products because we are the frontline infantry and we need products that protect us in our everyday exposure.
Due to the increasing health risks of this pandemic we are faced with new regulations requiring masks, additional personal care products (gloves, sanitation products), and daily health checkups (medical/electronic devices). We endure potential costly financial hardships of funeral costs, childcare, and medical expenses (copays, ambulance, urgent care fees, ect). These issues put an unforeseen financial hardship on our heroes. We only ask for what many companies (Costco, Target, Walmart, Tractor Supply Co., CVS, Kroger, Wegmans, J. M. Smucker, Amazon, and others) have already provided to their heroes.
Due to these unforeseen hardships the government has issued a stimulus package providing companies with 2 trillion dollars in funding to pay essential workers hazard pay. UPS Peak increases are already in effect in order to support their employee’s financial burden during this crisis.
We know UPS will do what is ethically right for their dedicated and diligent workers. Because being ranked in the “Just 100: Companies Doing Right by America” means above all else committing to treating your workers well, especially in a time of crisis. Doing Right by America means doing right by your employees by giving them hazard pay for their duty to America.
David Abney, UPS chairman and CEO announced “I want to thank all 495,000 UPSers for their extraordinary efforts to leverage the full power of our global network in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, keeping critical goods moving for businesses and consumers globally.” “The world is counting on UPS more than ever before as we support the people on the front lines of this crisis and our customers with speed, ingenuity and reliability.” UPS please do more than thank your heroes by providing your employees with hazard pay (retro back pay) from March of 2020 until the foreseeable end of this horrible crisis.
