At at the tender age of 23, a buddy and I tried it out, and now, 50 years since 1975, I'm still doing what I found to be the perfect sport, hobby, business, etc., for myself. I began lessons in 1975, earned my 1st Degree Black Belt in 1980, and took over the Calhoun Karate Studio in 1983. Now, 43 years later, we are in the same building with new faces coming in regularly. Our walls are filled with the photographs of 80 individuals from various paths in life, who have earned different degrees of Black Belt from this studio. Those photos represent doctors, nurses, teachers, members of law enforcement, students, and many others! We are what you call OLD SCHOOL. That means you are required to earn your belts rather than receiving a steady diet of belt rewards. Our students not only excel in martial arts; they excel in life. We are one of, if not the most affordable, martial arts studios in North Georgia.

You won't see us flooding the area with flyers and promises of near super skills because we rely mainly on word of mouth and satisfied students and parents. Since we do not use contracts, no one has to stay if for some reason they are not satisfied. 

So, we are in downtown, 203 S. Park Avenue. The same place we were in 1983.

 We accept new students at 5 years of age and up. Our student body consists of young children, teens, and adults of all skill levels.
