Tongdosa is one of the most revered temples in Korea and is part of the “Three Jewel Temples” (representing Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). Located in Yangsan, just outside Ulsan (or reachable from Ulsan depending on route), Tongdosa Temple offers:
Beautiful mountain surroundings with well-preserved temple halls and structures.
A calm, spiritual atmosphere — ideal for visitors who want to experience historic Buddhist architecture, stone lanterns, pagodas, and sensory relief from the city.
Walking trails and forested paths leading up to the temple complex, letting visitors enjoy nature along with culture.
Seasonal scenery: spring blossoms, autumn foliage, winter snow scenes offer different flavors depending on when you visit.
Travel tip: It typically takes about an hour or more to reach Tongdosa by car or bus from Ulsan, depending on traffic. If you schedule a City Tour after noon, Tongdosa is a great stop.

Taehwagang National Garden: A revitalized riverside garden that was once polluted, now a green haven with bamboo forests, flower beds, walking paths and excellent photo spots.
Daewangam Park & Daewangam Rock: Coastal forest, scenic trails, a suspension bridge, and rocky shoreline views. Great for sunset or a relaxing walk by the sea.
Simni Bamboo Grove near Taehwagang: Around 4 km of bamboo paths by the river — very peaceful and especially lovely in warmer months.
