A little bit about us...
We are a Congregational church. We are self-governing. While we are associated with the NACCC, they do not have any authority over us. The NACCC is a helpful resource but we do not answer to any hierarchy. Our Pastors are not assigned to us; we hire them and they stay with us as long as the two parties wish. We had two ministers stay 29 years and 33 years in the past, and we've had some come and go in 2 years. We are self financed.
Key officers:
Moderator is chairperson of the Church Council and coordinates the actions of the various committees.
Clerk keeps records and handles correspondence.
Treasurer , Assistant Treasurer, and Financial Secretary work as a team to collect funds and pay bills. They report monthly to the Church Council and Board of Trustees.
Trustees are in charge of the financial decisions and the building and grounds.
Deacons oversee worship and work closely with the minister.
You can be as active as you like.
Union Congregational Church Covenant
“We covenant with the Lord and with one another to engage ourselves in the worship of God the Father, the study of His purposes for us through the teachings of His son, Jesus the Christ, and to seek His presence through the Holy Spirit. We are united in striving to know the will of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures, and in our purpose to walk in the ways of the Lord, made known or to be made known to us.
We promise to worship faithfully, to observe the sacraments, to pledge our stewardship of talent and treasure, to support the Church and its worldwide mission, and to look with faith for the triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting.”
