This policy explains how Unfed ("the app") handles information. Unfed is an iOS app that helps people quit nicotine.
Unfed is provided as a self-help and motivational tool. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you are concerned about your health, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
What we collect
Unfed is built to work without an account, a server, or a login. Everything you enter — your quit date, usage details, savings goals, monster progress, recovery milestones, and SOS history — is stored only on your device, in iOS's standard local storage. We do not receive a copy.
The only information that leaves your device is:
In-app purchase records. When you subscribe or unlock lifetime access, Apple processes the transaction through StoreKit and tells the app whether your purchase is valid. Apple handles all payment details (name, email, billing). We never see them. We only store a flag on your device that says "premium unlocked."
Anonymous crash reports, if you have Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers enabled. Apple symbolicates these and shows them to us in App Store Connect. They contain a stack trace, OS version, and device model — no personal data, and they cannot be tied back to you.
Anonymous product analytics and, if you installed Unfed after tapping one of our App Store ads, the campaign identifiers Apple provides. These are described in the next section.
Product analytics
Since version 1.1 (September 2026), Unfed sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service run by TelemetryDeck GmbH in Germany, so we can see which parts of the app help people and which parts they abandon. These events describe what happened, not who you are: for example that onboarding was completed, that you chose cigarettes or vapes, that a paywall was shown or dismissed, that a purchase was made (the product and its price, as reported by Apple), that SOS was opened, that a milestone celebration or a rating request was shown, or that the quit date was moved. Each event also carries technical context — app version, iOS version, device model, language, region and time zone, which app you use, how many days it has been since your quit date and since you installed the app, and whether you are in the free trial, on the free tier, or a paying user.
Events are tied together by a random identifier that the app generates itself and keeps in your device's keychain. It is hashed on your device before it is sent, so TelemetryDeck only ever receives the hash. It is not your Apple ID, advertising identifier or device identifier, it cannot be reversed to identify you, it never leaves the device it was created on, and we cannot link it to you or to your purchase. Your actual quit date, your usage numbers, your costs, your savings and your SOS history are never sent.
If you installed Unfed after tapping one of our ads on the App Store, the app asks Apple's attribution service which campaign the ad belonged to, and includes those campaign identifiers with the events above. This uses Apple's privacy-preserving AdServices framework, involves no tracking permission, and tells us nothing about you beyond the campaign.

What we don't collect
We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, IDFA, advertising ID, or any other personal identifier. We run one privacy-focused analytics SDK (TelemetryDeck, described above), which receives anonymous usage events and a hashed, app-generated identifier. We do not run advertising SDKs or third-party tracking of any kind, and we do not fingerprint your device.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, the messages are scheduled locally by the app on your device. They are not sent through a server. The app records, anonymously, when a notification is opened, but not whether you received it.
Security
Your data is stored locally on your device using iOS's standard storage APIs, protected by the device passcode and Apple's built-in encryption. The app communicates with Apple's StoreKit servers to verify in-app purchases, with Apple's attribution service as described above, and with TelemetryDeck to deliver anonymous usage events; no personal information is transmitted by us. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is no server-side breach risk on our side.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information. Anonymous usage events are processed for us by TelemetryDeck as described above, and it may not use them for any other purpose. If we ever change what we collect, we will update this policy and notify users in-app before any new collection begins.
In the event of a future business transfer (sale, merger, acquisition), any information we hold at that time may transfer along with the rest of the business. As of the effective date above, that information is limited to the anonymous analytics described in this policy.
Processors
Apple processes in-app purchases, ad campaign attribution, and (optionally) anonymous crash analytics on our behalf. Apple's privacy policy governs that data: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
TelemetryDeck GmbH processes anonymous product analytics on our behalf, on servers in the European Union. Its privacy policy: https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/.
EU and EEA users (GDPR)
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal information held about you. Because Unfed stores all your data locally on your device and we hold no copy, you can exercise all of these rights yourself by clearing the app's data or deleting the app in iOS Settings. The legal basis for the on-device processing is your consent, given by using the app. The legal basis for the anonymous product analytics is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app. Because the analytics identifier is hashed on your device and cannot be tied to you, we cannot look up, correct, or delete individual analytics records.
California users (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. Unfed stores all your data locally on your device, we hold no copy, and we do not sell personal information. The anonymous analytics described above cannot be tied to you.
Children
Unfed is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app deals with nicotine cessation and is intended for adults.
International users
Because all your data stays on your device, it is processed wherever your device is located. The only data that crosses borders is the anonymous purchase, attribution, crash, and analytics data described above, processed by Apple under its global infrastructure and privacy practices, and by TelemetryDeck in the European Union.
