Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings.
- Heinrich Heine
The purpose of this site is to collect classic texts from various fields in one place. I'm a sucker for book recommendations. That's part of the reason why I undertook this task. The other part is that I'm teaching myself genetics and evolution, and it's hard to find comprehensive lists of required and recommended materials. I haven't read most of these texts that I recommend. I surfed the web and found short lists of recommendations by experts in their blogs, in articles, from academic websites, course materials from universities and brought them together in one place. The recommendations include not just academic books, but also some popular ones.
If you're an academic, lecturer, professor or researcher and you have similar lists that you give to your students and/or have syllabuses for the courses you teach, it would be great if you sent them to this email ( whydarwinmatters@yahoo.com ), so I put them up in this page. It would be helpful for students outside the academia to set the baseline for their knowledge.
