We are the Chemistry Technicians at Haileybury, an independent school in Hertford, England.
We both have degrees in Chemistry and we both worked as industrial chemists before becoming school science technicians.
Over the years the Chemistry Department at Haileybury has put together a large set of worksheets for use in practical lessons. One of our duties as technicians has been to curate this set: to check that they are suitable for the syllabuses that we study; to make sure that the instructions are clear and easy for students to follow; and, most importantly, to test them so that teachers can be confident that students will get the predicted results (as long as they follow the instructions properly of course). For the benefit of teachers and technicians the package should also contain equipment and chemical lists, and alerts for any potential safety issues.
Many chemistry departments do not have the resources (teacher and technician time) to undertake such a project, which is why we're opening ours out to the world. They are all in Microsoft Word format - feel free to download them and adapt them for your purposes as you see fit.
These sheets were written with inspiration from the Royal Society of Chemistry, CLEAPSS and various corners of the internet. We're grateful to past and present members of Haileybury's Chemistry Department for building the foundations and much of the structure of this project.
Graphics were created with the aid of chemix.org.
