The CDL offers opportunities to participate in research through student training, community partnerships, and collaborations with researchers at other institutions. Our research uses both experimental and naturalistic methods to understand cognitive development in everyday learning environments.
Students
The CDL offers opportunities for UNCW undergraduate students to gain research experience and academic credit through Directed Independent Study (PSY 291, PSY 491).
We also welcome applications from students interested in graduate training in conceptual development and categorization, particularly food-related concepts. The CDL supports research training through the Psychological Science M.S. and Ph.D. programs.
Community
Our community partners, including preschools and schools in the Wilmington, North Carolina area, are essential to our research. For more than two decades, we have conducted research in close collaboration with local educators, school directors, and families. We value these longstanding partnerships and welcome new collaborators interested in participating in our studies on children's learning and development.
