"[Jesse Jackson's] statement that there are more young black men in prison than in college is misleading. While it is true that the number of black males in college is lower than the number of total black males in prison, in order for Jackson's premise to be accurate, 75 percent of the black males in prison must be of college age, which they are not. Although black prison rates are disproportionately high, as usual Jackson is trying to make the picture more ugly than it is. He wants to make the discrepancy racial when in fact it is moral."

"The welfare system had some of its teeth taken out in 1996 under the welfare reform put forward by the Republicans in Congress, but the monster is far from dead. Time limits and work requirements are a step in the right direction, but the culture of Uncle Sam's Plantation is fed by the misguided policies of the left.
