Chekhov's classic turn-of-the-century masterpiece is crafted in this adaptation into four scene with a single set. A Russian family works hard to keep the summer estate of it's patriarch, a learned professor, in proper fettle as he and his young wife come to stay for the summer.  The visit however raises old resentments as frustrated desires bubble to the surface. A shocking announcement causes an explosion that has it's characters questioning their purposes in life.
