Unify Yazılım Bilişim LTD (“we” or “us”), the developer of UnblurAI, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices regarding your information. This policy applies to all users of UnblurAI worldwide. By using the app, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
Our philosophy is to collect only the minimum data necessary to provide and improve the UnblurAI service. We do not require you to create an account or provide personal identification to use the app. Most features work with anonymous or device-based data. Here’s a breakdown of what information the app handles:
Data We Collect and Use:
Subscription and Purchase Data: We record information about your subscription tier (Free, Gold, Diamond), your credit balance and usage, and the dates of credit resets. This allows us to deliver the service you paid for – for example, to know how many AI processing credits you have available this month and when to refresh your monthly credits. We also keep track of any one-time credit pack purchases and the remaining bonus credits on your account. Purpose: This data is used to manage your entitlements in the app (so you can use the features you paid for) and to ensure subscriptions auto-renew correctly.
Usage Data (Feature Usage): The app may internally note which enhancement features or tools you use and how many credits you spend on each (e.g., how many images you have colorized, how often you use background removal, etc.). Purpose: This information helps us understand which features are most popular or need improvement, and to optimize our service. This usage data is aggregated and not tied to your identity – since we don’t have personal accounts, we look at this data generally or per anonymous user ID. We do not track any browsing activity or usage outside of our app.
Device and App Identifiers: We use an anonymous identifier generated by RevenueCat (and/or Firebase) to distinguish users for subscription management. This is typically a randomly generated UUID that does not include any personal details – it’s not your name, not your email, just a string of characters. We do not collect your Apple ID, real name, email address, phone number, or physical address. The only device-related information we may see is basic info like device model or OS version (for compatibility and debugging), and a locale setting to know your default language or currency. We do not collect precise GPS location data or any sensor data from your device.
User Images: When you select a photo or image in the app to be enhanced, the image is obviously needed for the app to function. The image data will be processed as described in Section 2 below. Purpose: We only use your images to perform the AI enhancements or edits that you request. We do not use the content of your images for any other purpose. Once processing is done and the result is delivered to you, we (and our service providers) do not retain the image except as temporarily needed (see details below).
Data We Do NOT Collect: We design our product to respect your privacy. Unless you choose to provide it via a support request, we do not collect any of the following personal data:
Personal Identifiers: No name, no email address, no home or work address, no phone number, no government ID numbers – the app does not ask for or access this information. (If you contact support via email, we will of course see your email address and whatever info you choose to provide in that context, but we do not link it to your in-app usage data.)
Contacts or Social Data: We do not access your contact list, phonebook, or social media accounts. The app has no feature that involves inviting friends or interacting with others, so we have no reason to touch your contacts.
Payment Information: We never receive your credit card number, banking info, or any payment details. Apple processes all payments and only sends us confirmation of the transaction. (Apple may share a region or currency code and a transaction ID, but nothing like your full card or payment account details.)
Precise Location: We do not request or track your GPS location. The app does not know where you are aside from coarse info that can be inferred (for example, your IP address might indicate your country or region for purposes like applying the correct tax to purchase prices, but we do not store or use precise coordinates).
Biometric or Health Data: Aside from processing photos that may contain faces (see Section 11 on biometric data), we do not collect any biometric identifiers from you. We do not use face recognition to identify you or anyone in an image. We also do not collect health or fitness data.
Camera or Microphone: The app will not access your camera or microphone hardware unless you explicitly use a feature that requires it (for example, if in the future we add a “take a photo” feature, it would ask for camera permission – but at present the app only uses your existing photos). There is no audio component to UnblurAI’s functionality, so no microphone access at all.
Background Data/Tracking: The app does not perform any background tracking or send data when you are not actively using it. There are no third-party advertising SDKs in the app that spy on your behavior. We have disabled analytics and crash reporting by default, meaning we do not even collect typical app usage analytics or device identifiers for marketing. (While we use Firebase for the AI, we do not enable Firebase Analytics in the app.)
In summary, we strive to keep your personal data footprint extremely small. We collect what we need to make the app work (subscription status, credits, the images you want processed) and little else.
When you use UnblurAI to enhance or modify a photo, the image is sent to our AI processing servers to produce the result. We want to be very clear about how this works to address any privacy concerns about your photos:
Use of Google Cloud AI (Firebase): Our app uses Google’s cloud AI services (through Firebase and Google Cloud) to perform image processing tasks such as colorization, upscaling, background removal, etc. When you select an image and choose an enhancement feature, the app will first convert the image to a standardized format (JPEG) and possibly resize it if it’s very large (we currently limit uploads to a maximum resolution of about 4000 pixels and 10MB to ensure processing can be done quickly). This converted image is then uploaded securely to Google’s AI service. The transmission is encrypted via HTTPS in transit, meaning your image is protected from eavesdropping while it is sent over the internet. Google’s servers receive the image data and apply the requested AI model to it (for example, running it through a neural network that sharpens the image). The processing is automated. There are no humans at Google or UnblurAI that manually review your image during this process. The enhanced result is then sent back to your app, and the image is displayed to you and saved on your device (if you choose to save it).
No Permanent Storage by Us or Google: Neither UnblurAI nor Google retains your photos after processing beyond the short window needed to perform the task. For real-time requests (which our app uses – you submit an image and get a result immediately), Google processes the image in memory only and does not write it to disk on their servers. In other words, once the image is processed and the result returned, Google’s system discards the image data. (For completeness: Google’s Cloud Vision API documentation confirms that for immediate image requests, images are not persisted; only if we were using a batch offline mode – which we are not – would an image be stored temporarily and then deleted within a few hours.) Google also does not use your content to train their models or for any other purpose besides giving you the result. They do not share your images with any third party or make them public. We have a data processing agreement with Google that governs this handling of potentially personal data in compliance with privacy laws. Similarly, UnblurAI’s own servers do not store your image files; we do not have a database of user photos. Each image you process is transiently handled to perform the enhancement and then immediately discarded from the cloud. The only copies of the images (original or processed) that persist after the operation are those saved in your app’s local history (on your device – see Section 4) or in your camera roll if you choose to save them there.
Use of OpenAI (if applicable): If our app uses OpenAI for certain image generation or editing features, the handling is analogous. Your image (or prompt) is sent securely to OpenAI’s servers. According to OpenAI, data submitted via their API is not used to improve or train the AI models unless you explicitly opt in and they retain API data only for 30 days for monitoring purposes. We would only send the minimum necessary data (e.g., the image and the text prompt describing the desired change). The output returned by OpenAI is then shown to you and saved on your device if you choose. OpenAI also does not take ownership of your input or output; you retain rights to your images. Any image content you send to OpenAI is subject to the same constraints – we do not keep it beyond getting your result.
Logging and Metadata: We (or our providers) may retain non-content metadata about the requests for a short period. For example, Google Firebase may log that a request happened at a certain time and the size of the image file, etc., in order to monitor service performance and prevent abuse. These logs do not include the image pixels or any personal user identity – typically it’s things like server request IDs, timestamps, processing duration, and file size. We ourselves keep very minimal logs – we might log, for instance, that user with anonymous ID X used 1 credit at time Y with feature Z, to decrement your credit count and for analytics on feature usage. We do not log what the image contained. Any such logs are used internally for troubleshooting, preventing fraud (e.g., detecting if someone tries to spam the service), and improving the app’s performance. They are not shared externally and are periodically purged.
In summary, your images are safe: they are sent securely to our AI partner (Google or OpenAI) for the sole purpose of processing your request, and they are not stored or used for anything beyond that. We understand the sensitivity of personal photos and take this very seriously.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. However, we do rely on a few third-party services to operate UnblurAI, as mentioned in the Terms. Here we explain what data each third party receives and how it is used:
Google Firebase and Google Cloud AI: What they receive: The images you upload (as described above), and possibly your device’s Firebase installation ID or App Check token (an anonymous token used to verify the app’s integrity). Purpose: To perform image analysis and enhancements with Google’s machine learning models. Data retention: Google does not retain the images after processing is complete. They may store brief logs of requests (without the image content) for a few hours or days for system integrity and abuse prevention. Location: Images may be processed on servers located in the United States or other regions where Google operates cloud infrastructure. However, Google is committed to privacy safeguards and complies with the relevant data protection requirements (including the EU’s standard contractual clauses for data transfer, see Section 10 on international transfers). We do not provide Google any information about you personally – no name, no account info – only the content of the image and the technical parameters needed for processing. For more details, you can refer to Google Cloud’s privacy documentation and data processing terms. (Note: Google’s Cloud Vision/Data Usage FAQ confirms that content is only used for providing the service and not for any Google training.)
OpenAI API: (This applies if and when we integrate OpenAI features.) What they receive: Any input data required for the feature – this could be an image (for an editing feature) or textual description. Purpose: To leverage OpenAI’s generative AI capabilities (such as image generation or transformation) and return an AI-generated result to you. Data retention and usage: OpenAI will not use your API-submitted data to train its models without your consent, and it retains API request data for 30 days by default for security and abuse monitoring. We will not send any user-identifying information to OpenAI; requests are associated only with our API key and perhaps a generic session ID. Location: OpenAI processes data mainly in the United States. They are also bound by data protection agreements (including standard contractual clauses for EU data). For more information, you can review OpenAI’s API data usage policies.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management): What they receive: When you install the app, RevenueCat generates an anonymous App User ID for you (a random identifier). They receive information about your in-app purchases and subscriptions from Apple (via the app) – for example, when you start a free trial, when you purchase a subscription, or buy a credit pack, RevenueCat’s SDK will update their records with those purchase receipts. They also get updated when you use credits (so we can decrement your balance) and when your subscription renews or when credits reset. Purpose: RevenueCat acts as our data processor for purchase data – they provide infrastructure that lets us verify receipts and track who has what entitlements. They store your subscription status (active/expired), product identifiers of purchases, and metadata like the number of credits remaining in your account, the next renewal date, etc. What they don’t collect: RevenueCat does not collect any personal info like your name, email, or phone by default. We do not send them any user-provided personal data. The App User ID is not tied to your identity outside our app. They also do not collect sensitive device data (like no contact list, no health info, etc.). Sharing: RevenueCat does not share your data except to provide it to us (the developer) via their dashboard and APIs. They might aggregate generic stats across apps for their own analytics, but nothing that identifies our users. Retention: RevenueCat will retain your subscription records for as long as necessary – typically as long as your subscription is active and for a period after to allow reactivation or restore purchases. If you have never made a purchase, and you uninstall the app, the anonymous ID may persist on their system for some time but is not linked to anything personally identifiable. (If needed, we can request deletion of specific data via RevenueCat’s support, though since it’s anonymous, deletion is usually not necessary from a privacy standpoint.) For more information, you can view RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy on their website.
Apple (App Store and Payment): What they receive: Apple is the platform through which you obtain the app and pay for any purchases. Apple will have personal information about you by virtue of your Apple ID account – such as your name, email, and payment method – but Apple does not share those with us. Apple will inform us (through the app) of the outcome of purchase transactions (success/failure) and provide non-personal identifiers like transaction IDs or subscription expiration dates. Purpose: Apple uses your data to process payments, prevent fraud, send receipts, and manage your app downloads. Sharing: Apple does not share your personal details with UnblurAI beyond what is needed for validating purchases. We operate under Apple’s rules and they have their own stringent privacy protections. Apple’s Privacy Policy: Please review Apple’s Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles personal data in its ecosystem. Notably, Apple commits to not tracking you across apps without permission and to safeguarding your payment information. Also, any Media Services Terms you agreed to with Apple cover things like no unauthorized refunds, etc.
Aside from the parties above, we do not share your data with any other third parties. We do not use any advertising networks or social media integrations that would send your data to third parties. If in the future we integrate additional services (for example, an analytics service or a cloud storage backup), we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and ensure any new third party is disclosed and abides by strict data protection requirements.
On-Device Storage: For your convenience, certain data is stored locally on your iPhone/iPad (within the app’s sandbox on your device):
Processed Images History: The app keeps a history of your recent processed images (both the original you provided and the AI-enhanced result) so that you can review or save them later. By default, we store the last 5 images you processed in a local database (using Apple’s secure storage framework, e.g. SwiftData/CoreData). This history is only accessible within the app on your device. Older entries beyond the last 5 may be automatically deleted as new ones come in (to conserve storage, the app maintains a limited history). You can also manually delete any entry from the history within the app if you don’t want it stored. No one but you (and anyone with access to your device/unlock credentials) can view these stored images. The data is not uploaded to our servers. If you use the iOS “Photo Library Save” feature to save the enhanced image to your camera roll, then that image will be in your device’s Photos app as well, where it is subject to Apple’s privacy settings (e.g., iCloud Photos if you have that enabled).
Preferences and Subscription Info: We store some small pieces of data in your device’s local storage (UserDefaults and similar) such as your current subscription status (for quick offline reference), the number of credits remaining in your account, the date we last reset your monthly credits, and whether you’ve completed onboarding or seen certain tutorial prompts. This is to ensure the app works smoothly even without constant internet and to remember your settings. None of this is sensitive personal information – it’s more like the state of your app usage. This data is generally stored in plain form protected by the device’s security (Apple’s sandbox and encryption). We do not separately encrypt these trivial values, but they are not exposed unless someone has physical access to your device and the technical skill to inspect the app’s storage.
No Server Storage of Personal Data: Our own servers (if any) do not store personal data about you. We leverage third-party cloud services as described, and we avoid collecting data that would require server storage. The only server-side records relating to users are on RevenueCat’s servers (subscription/credit info under a random user ID) and in aggregated analytics if we ever enable those (currently, analytics are off). We do maintain server logs for our website and backend (for example, if you visit our website unblurai.com, standard web logs may record your IP address and user agent), but the app itself doesn’t send those kinds of details to our servers.
Server-Side Subscription Data: As noted, subscription and purchase information is managed by RevenueCat. They will store data like: the products you’ve purchased, your subscription expiration date or next renewal date, how many credits you have remaining in the current cycle, and how many bonus credits you have left. This data is retained to allow you to restore your subscription on a new device or after reinstalling the app – for example, if you buy 30 Pro credits and only use 10, and then you get a new phone, we want you to be able to restore the remaining 20. However, due to technical limitations, we cannot guarantee restoration of consumable credits (see the Terms, Section 8). We recommend reaching out to support if you ever lose purchased credits during a device transition, and we will do our best to help. In any event, the data on RevenueCat’s servers is kept for at least as long as your subscription or credits are active, and may be retained for some time after (likely a few years) for accounting and to enable reactivation. This data includes no direct personal identifiers — it is keyed by an anonymous ID or by your Apple App Store receipt identifier.
Data Security Measures: We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your data. These include:
Secure Transmission: As mentioned, all communication between the app and our servers (or third-party APIs like Google’s) is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS. This prevents eavesdropping on your images or other data while in transit.
Firebase App Check & App Attest: We implement Firebase App Check and Apple App Attest to ensure that only authentic, unmodified versions of our app can communicate with our backend services. This helps prevent malicious abuse of our API and protects user data by ensuring requests truly come from our app.
Access Controls: Because we collect minimal data, the surface for breaches is small. Our databases of subscription info are protected by strong authentication (and much of that data lives with RevenueCat which has its own robust security). Internally, only authorized personnel who need to support the service have access to systems that contain user data, and even then, since the data is mostly anonymous, there is limited possibility to tie anything to a real person.
No Sensitive Data at Rest: We do not store personal content like images or personal details on servers, so there is no trove of personal photos that could be compromised in a hacking incident on our side. Images remain on your device or transiently in the cloud as explained. The local images on your device are protected by your device’s security (make sure you use a passcode or other lock). iOS encrypts app data at rest when the device is locked, by default, which adds a layer of protection.
No Third-Party Ads or Trackers: We don’t embed third-party advertising SDKs that might misuse data. This reduces risk of data leakage to unknown parties.
Routine Updates: We keep our software libraries and infrastructure up to date with security patches. We also periodically review our data practices to ensure we maintain a high standard of privacy and security.
Despite all measures, it’s important to note that no system can be 100% secure. The internet by its nature has risks, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, or data loss will never occur. However, we are confident that by limiting what we collect and using strong protections for what we do collect, we minimize the risk to you. If we ever experience a data breach involving your personal data, we will follow all applicable laws in notifying users and authorities.
When you install and use UnblurAI, the app will request certain permissions from your device. We will only ask for permissions that are necessary for the app’s functionality. The main permissions include:
Photo Library Access (Read): This permission is required so that you can select images from your device’s gallery to use in the app. The app will prompt you to grant access to your Photos. You may choose to grant access to all photos or just select specific photos as per iOS capabilities. If you deny this permission, the app will not be able to load any images for editing. We do not use this permission to snoop on your photo library; we only open the image you choose and present it in the app for editing.
Photo Library Add (Write): This permission is optional and is requested if you try to save an enhanced image back to your camera roll. Granting this allows the app to save the AI-enhanced photo to your Photos app (so you can easily share or keep it). If you prefer not to grant this, you can still use the app – you’ll just keep the results within the app’s history or share them via other methods. You can also manually save by taking a screenshot or using the iOS share sheet if needed.
Network Access: (No user prompt required) The app needs internet access (Wi-Fi or cellular data) to communicate with our servers and the AI services. You will obviously allow internet access by using the app (if you disable data for the app, it won’t function). This is not a permission that triggers a user prompt, but it’s a requirement. Data charges may apply if on cellular – that’s per your device’s plan.
No Other Permissions: We do not request access to your camera (unless in a future update we add an in-app camera feature; at present, we don’t have one), microphone, contacts, location, or other sensors. If that ever changes, we will update this Policy and ensure the app clearly asks for consent.
You have control over these permissions and can revoke them at any time in your device’s Settings (under the UnblurAI app permissions). Note, however, that revoking essential permissions like Photo access will limit the functionality of the app.
We retain data only for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. Different types of data have different retention practices:
Images: As detailed, images you send for processing are not stored on our servers or by our AI providers beyond the processing session. The processed images on your device (history) remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. You can manually delete any or all history items in-app. We have a rolling limit (e.g., last 5 images) to avoid indefinite storage, but if you want to clear everything sooner, that’s your choice. If you uninstall the app, all images and data in the app will be deleted from your device automatically by the operating system. We do not have any backups of user images on our side, so once deleted (by you or via uninstall), they are gone permanently.
Subscription and Purchase Data: We keep subscription-related data for as long as you are an active subscriber so that we can manage your benefits. If your subscription ends, we may retain the records for a period of time (for example, to allow you to restore your purchase if you come back, or for our financial record-keeping). Typically, revenue transaction records might be kept for a number of years as required by accounting laws, but these records do not include personal identifiers beyond maybe an order ID or an anonymous user ID. If you never made a purchase and you uninstall, there is basically nothing to retain except an anonymous ID that has no data attached.
Usage Logs: Any usage analytics or logs we collect (which are minimal) are generally kept only as long as needed for analysis. If we have server logs, those might be rotated regularly (e.g., automatically deleted after 30 days). We do not have a user login system, so usage data is either ephemeral or tied to the anonymous ID. We might keep aggregate stats (e.g., “X images enhanced in June” or “Feature Y used by Z% of users”) indefinitely for business insight, but that contains no personal data.
Crash Reports (if any): We have disabled automatic crash reporting. In the event we enable it or you send us a crash log manually, such data might be used to debug and then deleted.
Communication Data: If you contact support (via email at support@unblurai.com), we will retain your communication and our response for as long as needed to assist you and for our records (in case you have follow-up issues). Support emails may be retained for some time in our inbox, but if you request we delete a support thread, we will do so unless needed for legal reasons.
If you wish for us to delete any personal data we might have about you (for example, if you emailed us and want that correspondence erased), please contact us (see Section 8 on user rights). Since the app by design keeps almost no personal data on our side, typically uninstalling the app and ending your subscription is the main way to ensure your data is removed.
Because we collect very limited personal information, there isn’t much “on file” about you that you might need to access or correct. Nonetheless, we want you to be aware of your rights and how you can manage your data when using UnblurAI:
Access and View: You have the right to access the data the app holds about you. Practically, since there’s no online account to log into, the data you can access is mostly on your device. Within the app, you can view your processing history (recent images and their results) and your current subscription/credit status (how many credits left, next renewal date, etc.). This allows you to see the core information the app is using for your account. If you needed a detailed log of your transactions or similar, you can contact support, and we could provide information like purchase dates and credit pack usage associated with your anonymous user ID (to the extent we have it).
Correction: If you find any inaccuracies in your data, you may contact us to have it corrected. However, given we don’t store profile info, the main “data” to correct would be something like subscription status (which usually is automatically correct based on Apple’s info). In the unlikely event of a discrepancy (e.g., the app shows the wrong subscription tier or credit count), reach out and we will investigate and fix it in our system.
Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of personal data. Because we deliberately minimize data collection, the simplest way to delete your data is to uninstall the app, which erases all locally stored data (history, preferences, etc.) from your device. If you want us to delete any server-side data that might be identifiable to you: again, we mostly have anonymous data. For example, we cannot “delete your account” on RevenueCat without losing the ability to restore your purchases, and since it’s not tied to any personal info, there’s not a privacy need to delete it (it’s just an ID with some numbers). However, if you insist or have a specific concern, you can contact support and we will work with RevenueCat to anonymize or remove records as needed. Note that if we delete your subscription record and you later re-install, we might not be able to restore your past purchases, so deletion of that data is generally not reversible.
Opt-Out of Data Collection: We don’t have much to opt out of, since we don’t do tracking. You can refuse to share images if you don’t want them processed (though then the app’s purpose is defeated). You can choose not to provide optional permissions (like saving to camera roll). If we ever decide to collect analytics or crash data, we would likely provide an opt-out toggle in settings (and update this policy). As of now, there’s effectively nothing to toggle off because we’re not collecting those things.
Stop Processing: If you want to completely stop all data processing, you can stop using the app. You also have the option to use the app in an extremely limited way – e.g., not buying a subscription (then we only process the one free credit) and then not using it further – but realistically, continued use implies some data processing as described. If you have concerns about a particular kind of processing (say, you don’t want your images to ever leave your device), then unfortunately you won’t be able to use our cloud-based service, but you have the choice not to use it.
Data Portability: We do not have a mechanism for you to download a full export of your data because we do not maintain a personal data profile on our servers. The main data – your images – you already possess (originals are yours, enhanced outputs you can save). If you needed a copy of some transaction history, we could compile that on request. But there’s no typical “download my account data” since there’s no account.
Note for California, EU, etc: We address specific rights under CCPA/CPRA and GDPR in Section 11 (Regional Compliance). Generally, we comply with any verified requests from users to exercise their rights under those laws, even though in most cases we might respond that we have no data to provide or delete beyond what the app itself holds.
One limitation: Because we intentionally do not collect things like your name or email in the normal course of app usage, we have no practical way to verify identity for a data request other than perhaps confirming you have access to the device with the app installed. In most cases, the remedy for concerns is simply to delete the app and its local data.
Age Restrictions: UnblurAI is not intended for very young children. Our app’s content and features are generally appropriate for a wide audience (the app is rated 4+ on the App Store, meaning it contains no objectionable material in itself). However, due to legal considerations around data and certain features, we treat our app as intended for users aged 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age. If you are under 13, you should not use this app without parental consent and supervision. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete such information.
Minors 13-17: If you are between 13 and 17 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher), you may use UnblurAI with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We advise parents of minors to be aware of how their children are using the app and what images they are processing. Some features (like those involving face manipulation or generative scenes) should be used responsibly. We do not intentionally target any content specifically at minors, nor do we collect any more data from them than described (we don’t even collect birth dates through the app, so we typically don’t know a user’s age).
COPPA Compliance: We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for users under 13. That means we do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Since we do not ask for names or contacts, and our one potential personal data aspect is an image (which could contain a child’s face), we treat any image upload from a user who identifies as under 13 as something that should have parental consent. We currently implement an age gate upon first launch asking users to confirm they are 18 or older (or if not, that they have consent). This is a simple check (“Are you 18 or older? Yes/No”). Even though the app might allow you to proceed after confirming (and doesn’t force-age verify), this at least notifies younger users that they shouldn’t use the app without permission. If you as a parent discover that your under-13 child is using UnblurAI without your consent, please contact us at support@unblurai.com and we will take appropriate action, such as blocking that device from our services if feasible and deleting any associated data.
No Profiling of Minors: We do not create profiles of our users, minors or adults. We do not serve ads, so there’s no behavioral advertising to children or any audience.
Parental Guidance: We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their child’s use of AI editing apps. Ensure they understand not to upload any sensitive photos (like family or friends’ images) without permission, and to use the app in a safe, constructive manner.
Some of UnblurAI’s enhancement features involve manipulating facial features in photos (for example, a face retouch or a “face restore” on old photos). These features might technically involve the processing of biometric identifiers or information – for instance, the app’s AI might detect facial landmarks (eyes, nose, etc.) in order to enhance a face. We want to address this specifically, especially for users in jurisdictions like Illinois (which has the Biometric Information Privacy Act, BIPA):
Consent for Biometric Processing: By using any face-enhancement or face-altering feature in UnblurAI, you are providing your consent for the app to process biometric data in your images solely for the purpose of performing the requested enhancement. We do not separately prompt for written consent in-app each time (aside from the general age gate and this policy), so if you do not consent, please do not use the face-related features. Users in Illinois or areas with similar laws should understand that uploading a photo of a person’s face for AI processing is considered consent for us to apply our algorithms to that face. If you are uploading a photo of someone else’s face (e.g., enhancing a picture of a friend or a celebrity), make sure you have that person’s permission to do so. Do not use the app on a photo of someone else if you do not have consent, especially if the image is sensitive.
Purpose and Use Limitation: Any biometric data (e.g. a facial template or embedding calculated by the AI during processing) is used only to fulfill your requested image enhancement. We do not use it to identify an individual, nor to compare against other images, nor for any profiling. We never share biometric identifiers or any derived data from faces with third parties, nor do we sell or profit from biometric data. In fact, we do not separately store any biometric data at all—the processing happens on the fly and the data is discarded immediately after producing the result.
No Retention of Biometric Identifiers: Under BIPA, we would need to disclose a retention schedule if we kept biometric data. Our retention policy is straightforward: we do not retain any biometric data or images beyond the immediate processing. As soon as the image is processed and returned to you, the facial data and image data are gone from our servers (and from Google’s servers as discussed) except the copy on your device. Therefore, we automatically comply with the requirement to permanently destroy biometric identifiers in a timely manner (in our case, almost instantly after use).
No Commercial Sale of Biometric Data: We reiterate that we do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from any biometric data or any personal data. Our revenue is solely from user subscriptions and purchases, not from data. This is in line with BIPA’s prohibitions.
Disclosure: If ever we were to introduce a feature that would store or reuse biometric data (for example, hypothetically, a feature to recognize the same face in multiple photos), we would implement all required disclosures and consent mechanisms before doing so. As of now, we have no such features.
For Illinois users specifically: By using the app’s face-related features, you acknowledge that (1) you have been informed of the specific purpose and length of term for which your biometric data is being used – which is to immediately transform your image and then it’s deleted; and (2) you consent to that. If you are not comfortable, you can refrain from using those features or the app entirely.
UnblurAI is available to users around the world. If you are using the app from outside the country where our company or our service providers are located, be aware that your data (including images) may be transferred across international borders. In particular:
Servers in Multiple Countries: Our company is based in Turkey, but the infrastructure we use is global. Google’s and Firebase’s servers are primarily in the United States (and possibly the European Union or other locations, depending on how they route requests). RevenueCat’s systems and Apple’s systems also operate primarily out of the United States. This means, if you are outside the U.S., your data (like an image for processing or subscription info) will likely be transferred to and processed in the U.S. (or other countries) where the data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
EU/UK Users – GDPR Transfers: If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we will ensure that adequate safeguards are in place for transferring your personal data internationally. Both Google and RevenueCat have committed to using the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a legal mechanism for data transfer to the U.S. and other countries. These SCCs contractually obligate them to protect EU personal data to the high standards of EU law. Similarly, Apple’s terms include compliance with international data frameworks. By using our app, you acknowledge that your data will be transferred to our service providers’ servers as necessary to provide the service, and you consent to this transfer. We rely on your consent (by agreeing to this Privacy Policy and using the app) and/or the necessity to perform our contract with you (the Terms of Service) as the legal bases for these transfers. We can provide copies of relevant SCCs or information on transfer safeguards upon request.
Other Regions: For users in other jurisdictions (Canada, Australia, Asia, etc.), your data will also likely be processed in the U.S. or other countries. We will apply the same level of care to your data regardless of location. If local law requires certain conditions for cross-border transfer, we either meet those (e.g., SCCs for EU, or we rely on the fact that we actually store very little personal data post-transfer).
In summary, using UnblurAI means your data might travel globally to deliver you the service quickly and reliably. We take steps to ensure any such transfers are done securely and lawfully. If you have any questions about international data handling, please contact us.
We strive to comply with privacy laws applicable in various regions. Here are some specific notices for certain jurisdictions:
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information. In the interest of transparency, we provide the following details (though, as noted, we collect very limited personal info):
Categories of Personal Information Collected: In the last 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information (as defined by CCPA) from users: Identifiers (an IP address when you use the service, an anonymous user ID, or device identifiers), Commercial information (records of products or services purchased, such as your subscription tier and purchase history in the app), and Internet or other electronic network activity information (e.g., interactions with our app, usage logs). We do not collect your name, contact info, or other protected classifications, nor geolocation data, nor any of the sensitive data categories like biometric identifiers in a retrievable way (even though we process images, we do not store biometric identifiers about a person in a way that identifies them). We also do not do “profiling” in the CCPA sense or automated decision-making that has legal effects.
Purposes: All personal information is used to provide and improve the service (e.g., to manage your subscription and process your images). We don’t use it for marketing, as we don’t have advertising or sale of data.
Sources: We collect information directly from you (through the app when you provide an image or make a purchase) and from your device (through automated means like the app’s interactions and Apple’s in-app purchase system). We also receive confirmation of purchases from Apple and utilize third-party processors like RevenueCat and Google as described.
Sharing and Selling: We do not sell personal information of our users, including not selling the personal information of minors under 16 (and we don’t collect info on minors aside from possibly an image they upload). We do not “share” personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. Any data sharing with our service providers (Google, RevenueCat, etc.) is solely for business purposes (they are “service providers” or “contractors” under CCPA definitions), not for them to use beyond our service. In the past 12 months, we have disclosed the categories of info listed above to these service providers in order to run the app, but again, this is not a sale or improper sharing.
Rights: California residents have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we have collected about you, to request deletion of your personal information, to correct inaccurate personal information, to opt-out of sale or sharing (though we don’t do those), and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Because of our minimal data collection, when we receive such requests, often our response may be that we have no personal data to provide or delete that isn’t already in your possession. You can exercise your rights by contacting us at support@unblurai.com with the subject “CCPA Request” and specifying the nature of your request. We will need to verify your identity (which is tricky since we don’t have personal identifiers – we might verify by having you send an email from the address you used to contact support previously, or by some app-specific token). If you have an active subscription, we may verify via an Apple receipt ID if needed. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by law (generally 45 days). If we cannot verify or have no data, we will inform you.
Sensitive Personal Information: We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information (like precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, health, etc.) for any purpose that would trigger a requirement to offer a Limit Use and Disclosure option under California law. The only potential sensitive info one might argue is if a photo of a face constitutes “biometric data” – but we do not store it or use it beyond processing, as explained.
EU/UK Users (GDPR): If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction with comprehensive data protection laws:
Data Controller: Unify Yazılım Bilişim LTD (Turkey) is the data controller for personal data collected via UnblurAI. This means we are responsible for deciding how your personal data is processed and for what purposes. Our contact information is provided in Section 12 (Contact Us). For EU users, we do not currently have a local representative, but you can reach out to us directly with any GDPR concerns.
Legal Bases for Processing: We process your personal data under the following legal grounds as per Article 6 of GDPR: (a) Contractual necessity – when you use our app, you are entering into a user agreement (the Terms of Service) with us, and we must process certain data to perform that contract (e.g., process your images, provide your subscription features, etc.). We could not provide the service without processing your images or tracking your credits. (b) Legitimate interests – we have legitimate interests in maintaining and improving our app, preventing fraud, and understanding usage. For example, it’s in our legitimate interest to collect usage analytics (if we do) or to log when our service is being abused, as long as it doesn’t override your rights. We rely on these interests only for non-intrusive data processing. We do not use your data for marketing or targeting. (c) Legal obligations – if we are required by law to retain certain data (like purchase records for tax or respond to valid law enforcement requests), we will do so. In rare cases, we might also process data to protect vital interests (yours or others) or for tasks in the public interest, but our app’s scope makes that unlikely. If we ever need your consent for a certain processing (like if we wanted to use your data in a new way not covered by the above bases), we would ask you first. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, where applicable.
Data Subject Rights: Under GDPR, you have a number of rights: Right of Access (to get a copy of your personal data we have), Right to Rectification (correct inaccuracies), Right to Erasure (“right to be forgotten,” to delete your data), Right to Restrict Processing, Right to Data Portability, and Right to Object to certain processing. You also have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects (note: our AI processing of images is automated, but it does not produce any decision about you – it only alters content you provided). To exercise any of these rights, please contact us (Section 12). Because of the anonymous nature of our data, we may need extra information to locate data about you (for instance, a specific request ID or purchase receipt). In many cases, the easiest way to “erase” or “rectify” data is as described in Section 7: uninstall or change at the user side. But if you email us, we will do our best to accommodate your request to the extent we have data. We will respond within one month (or inform you if we need more time). If you are unsatisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your country’s Data Protection Authority.
No Profiling or Automated Decision-Making: We do not use your personal data to perform any profiling that has legal effects or similarly significant effects on you. The AI’s transformation of an image could be seen as automated processing of personal data (if an image of you is personal data), but it’s done at your explicit request and for your benefit, and has no effect beyond the image content you see. It’s not like we’re algorithmically deciding to deny you service or anything like that.
Data Breach Notification: In the unlikely event of a data breach that involves your personal data, we will meet the GDPR’s requirements for notification – informing affected users and appropriate supervisory authorities as required. Given our minimal data retention, a breach would likely be limited (and our biggest threat, a breach of images in transit, is mitigated by encryption).
Transfers: As discussed in Section 10, we rely on mechanisms like SCCs to transfer data out of the EU. We can provide more info if needed.
United Kingdom: The UK’s data protection law (UK GDPR and DPA 2018) essentially mirrors the EU GDPR obligations above, and we treat UK users’ data with the same care. You have the same rights, and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the UK’s supervisory authority.
Canada: We comply with Canada’s PIPEDA. We don’t engage in behavior that would violate privacy principles – we ask for consent (use of the app is consent to necessary processing), we limit collection, etc. Canadian users have similar rights to access and correction. We do not transfer data to third parties for their own use without consent.
Australia: We adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles to the extent applicable. We do not do direct marketing. Most data is considered unsolicited because you supply it to use a feature, and we handle it as described.
If any regionally specific law imposes additional requirements on us, we intend to comply fully. Our overall approach is to exceed baseline privacy protections, so by default we should meet most such laws.
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy (and our Terms of Service) from time to time as our app evolves or as laws change. If we make material changes to how we handle your data or what data we collect, we will notify you in an appropriate manner. This might include an in-app notification, a prompt to review the new policy, or an update via the app store. The “Last Updated” date at the top will always indicate the effective date of the latest version.
Your continued use of UnblurAI after a Privacy Policy update means you accept the changes. If you do not agree to the updated policy, you should stop using the app and can request deletion of your data as described. We encourage you to periodically review this Policy for the latest information on our privacy practices.
For your convenience or records, we can provide previous versions of the Privacy Policy upon request, so you can see what changed. We maintain an archive of policy versions effective on prior dates.
