UNAMnet Annual Meeting 2023

In November 2023, members met for the first UNAMnet Annual Meeting.

Over two days, representatives from eight UN agencies met virtually to discuss accountability issues, including complaint management, internal and external outreach strategies, and investigation processes. Professor David Hunter concluded the meeting with a discussion on various accountability models.

First UNAMnet meeting

In October 2022, UNDP's Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU) hosted the first UNAMnet meeting. During this first series of conferences, participants discussed the critical characteristics of accountability mechanisms in the context of UN agencies and some of the most common challenges faced while establishing a new accountability mechanism.

Accountability Counsel and the Center of International Environmental Law (CIEL) also presented their perspectives on the importance of having accountability mechanisms in the UN system.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
