Anyone using Microsoft's Quick Assist to provide remote support for your users? if so, have you figured out how you are going to upgrade to the new version? It looks like you need admin rights to install the new version (which if the user is remote creates a Catch 22). Can't Quick Assist to machine in order to assist the user with upgrading Quick Assist.

Since Remote Assistance is supposed to work for Remote Desktop Sessions as well, I tried leveraging that for support purposes by enabling unsolicited remote assistance for all Remote Desktop Session Hosts via Group Policy.

All seems to be working well except that the "expert" seems to be unable to actually excercise any mouse or keyboard control when the remote assistance session has been initiated from a Remote Desktop session itself. Mouse clicks and keyboard strokes from the "expert" session (Server 2012) seem to simply be ignored even after the assisted user has acknowledged the request for control.

Remote Desktop is not available in Windows 10 Home. However, you dont need it. Since Windows 7, Windows has had a remote assistance tool built in. In Windows 10, Quick Assist is built in to all versions.

We don't know what exactly you are wanting to edit on Schedule E. And it's not clear what you mean by "unable to access" the Schedule E. Underneath your question is says you are using "Online Premier". In the Online editions you cannot directly edit any form, since there is no Forms Mode.

I was finally able to edit information I had previously entered into the Schedule E.

I re-did your procedure (log-our of myturbotax and empty browser cache). I also selected "disable extensions" through Safari preferences and then re-entered myturbotax via google search. I don't know if any of the latter actions made a difference, but I'm in now!

From my experiments with various options the closest macos alternative to the very simple and reliable windows quick assist experience is teamviewer quicksupport. See QuickSupport by TeamViewer . There is even a quicksupport app for android that lets you remote control help friends and family with android device issues. Would be nice if apple enabled similar experience vs requiring the person you are trying to help out to have to be walked through a bunch of macOS settings in order to let you remotely view and control their screen [ and no option for remote control of iOS ].

@Barney-15E thanks for the pointer to the screen sharing app. I was only aware of the screen sharing options exposed in system preferences | sharing which appear to be focused on enabling one to do an unattended remote connection to other devices living on your same network. Given that straight forward story for using the screen sharing app i guess the teamviewer quicksupport would only be relevant if you needed to enable non-macOS users to connect and remotely control / support your setup.

@Barney-15E wrt how windows quick assist works . . . The person looking for help starts quick assist app [ installed by default ] and waits for the person looking to support them to start quick assist on their end and provide the randomly generated connection code. the person enters that and then approves the remote control session. Some cloud operated rendezvous service addresses firewall traversal requirements.

Happy FriYAY, when using Quick Assist when the end-user is in user mode to remote control devices, a black screen is presented to the rescuer when a UAC dialogue box appears on the end-user device and the administrator cannot enter in a password or dismiss.
