UMS Percussion

Advised by UMS band director Mr. Kay and led by Leigh High School percussionists, UMS Percussion Club is a winter percussion program that takes place from early October through early April. Our instrumentation includes battery (snare, quads/tenor, bass, & cymbals) and front ensemble (marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, synthesizer, drum set, & auxiliary). All skill levels are welcomed, from complete beginners to experienced musicians.

While one of our main goals is to develop students' general musicianship in both halves of the ensemble, with a particular focus on foundational technique and basic visual performance, we also seek to enhance their ability to work in an ensemble setting, and for their experience to culminate in an appreciation for the enriching activity that is winter percussion.

All instruments and materials will be provided to students.
